Hey everyone at the Spiral Knights forum! I have recently started playing and just got into the Haven. So, I just want to ask:
Do you have any tips for me starting out?
I think this is a really great game, but I'd like some advice. Also here's some questions I want answered:
Where do I find crowns on my hud?
How do I get crowns?
Is there an item economy comparable to, let's say, the TF2 economy (I use that example because I know it best)?
I know that you can trade crowns for energy and vice versa, but do the values go up or down?
Any tips? (also some questions)

Probably the greatest thing to be aware of is upgrade lines. Most, like 90% of gear, diverges into different lines. This is a game where you need to know how to invest, be it time, money, and resources. I recommend going around to professionals (in a non-intrusive manner, otherwise you may not get a good response like any game) and asking for recommendations. Most gear start and truly open up at 3*, and you should really understand what you're getting yourself into. You gotta put trust in your gear, as corny as that sounds, because you're gonna be stuck with it unless you take the time to do a different line. I recommend going into a guild with Energy Well privileges, as you can purchase 100 Energy per day for cheap, depending on the guild itself. 100 isn't a lot in the short term, but the money you save will quickly add up; usually 3k Crowns or more per day saved.
You can see how many crowns you have by opening your Arsenal. Crowns are at the bottom, along with energy.

There is an economy. But because the player base has dwindled, the market may not be as big or opportunity-rich as in TF2. (I don't know that game.)
Yes, the price of energy in crowns varies over time. In the energy trading interface, you can see offers to buy and sell, and make your own offers.
