A simple PvP gamemode. Players are pitted into a small arena with several ranged enemies placed along the outside. Players must dodge, shield, or otherwise outlive a barrage of attacks while the playable arena slowly gets smaller and smaller, until one person is left alive. Trinket slots and weapons are disabled, giving players the option of using their shield, their armor of choice, and their battle sprite.
(NOTE: Players cannot hurt each other in this mode with direct damage, but status may still be in effect)
Monster types include: gun puppy (all status variants), rocket puppy, polyp (all status variants), howlitzer (all status variants), mortafire (all status variants), gremlin scorcher, jelly cubes (normal/ice), giant lichen colonies, toxigels, and battlepods.
The game's timer will last 3 minutes. After 1 minute, shankles and wisps will be let into the arena. After 2 minutes, the stage will begin to collapse on itself. Once the time runs out, lost souls of every status variation will begin spawning until one player is left.
Players that lose all their HP will enter a "ghost" mode, where they can affect the arena in small ways. This includes, but is not limited to, activating switches that will open targets up to being hit more easily, activating traps, or other mischievous things to bring about the other players' demise.
The main purpose of all this is to create a PvP game where players can still customize their character loadouts, however the customization is more of a personal preference rather than a rich man's game. Drakon may get the short end of the stick battle sprite wise, however it may come in handy for dealing with more immediate threats, especially if certain arenas have a respawning enemy such as a retrode in the center of the arena.
It would give defensive gear some love.
What about shield-bumping other players?
