I propose a mechanic wherein a Featured auction can be made "silent", to where the highest bidder wins, but nobody can see anyone else's bid.
Sporadic, silent featured auctions
i'll be honest i wouldn't really do it either unless it was something REALLY expensive and/or desirable, like a Rider mantle or iron dragon wings. But the crownsink possibilities for it are incredible.
Bravo. This is how I'd like to see all auctions go.
Lets say I see something on auction for 20K c/o and no b/o. Even if I bid on it 100K cr someone can come by at the last second and buy it for 101K cr. With this the other person might have put down 80K crowns. So I don't bid on it, and no one else does either because they don't want 100K stuck on the auctions for 2 days just for someone to outbid them.... and the item goes for 21K crowns, because it ended while no one was looking too hard at the auction house. I lose, the seller loses, and some random person wins? Like why???? Your suggestion fixes this scenario completely.
You know you can just offer on an item with bid price of 2kcr like 200kcr. Your idea isn't really that needed, it's just that some people don't know how AH works. And I think this is actually a terrible idea. Imagine that you want Prismatic Glow Eyes and you offer 200kcr on it, now you got little money left, while you were browsing the AH you found an item that you REALLY want an that item is so rare to find but it's on long while the Prismatic Glow Eyes are on very long, you have to wait till the auction ends so that you get your money back because no one can outbid you it's not like you were going to win anyway with just 200kcr, someone else offered 500kcr for the Prismatic Glow Eyes. Now you lose the Prismatic Glow Eyes, that other item you wanted and then you get your money back as nothing ever happened. Would be a terrible feeling.
@Fehzor
You can't bid 101kcr on an item with a c/o of 100kcr, you have to bid 110kcr I think.
People wouldn't know if they needed to bid more if they wanted the item for themselves, it seems a little too harsh of a system to implement that knights would be forced to deal with if they wanted to try to grab at the featured items, and it would surely feel more unfair than how the current system feels.
Also this would remove having bids for items slowly increasing on these featured items and making players possibly pay more for the featured items if multiple users wanted it enough.
I get certain feelings from this that I can't really explain so I haven't been able to say much more for now.
It hides too much information from the user, and there's too much of a lack of interaction anddnasjkfdshfjdsjlk
i can't think of how to say anymore
