Remember how Brandishes (except Amputator), Sealed Swords and Fang of Vog have two damage bars, Normal and something else? It is well understood that the nature of split damage causes these weapons to perform better or differently than they should, which brought me to an idea.
What if weapons that had 'split' damage inflicted different damage types with different attacks, rather than assigning all of their attacks different attack values?
I'll give a few examples.
- Combuster/Glacius/Voltedge could deal normal damage with its basics and elemental damage with its charge.
- Gran Faust could deal normal with its first basic, and shadow with its second basic and charge. (Seeing as the second basic can proc Curse.)
- Wild Hunting Blade could inflict normal damage with its regular swings and piercing damage with its ghost swings. (Allows for a piercing damage WHB without giving up its generally useful normal damage.)
The alternative, I suppose, is doing away with split damage entirely and making all weapons that have it use purely one type, but I thought this was an interesting solution to split damage.
I like this, and not just because I've suggested the same thing before.
