Drastically buff base health levels in lockdown

The classes would inherently have 2x to 3x the health they currently have.

- Newbies wouldn't die instantly and feel like they have nothing to contribute.
- Reasons to use trinkets other than penta since they give proportionally less health.
- Health difference between classes would be more pronounced, and again less invalidated by pentas.
- Everyone's damage numbers would be higher which is the only reasons anyone plays lockdown so literally everyone would be happy.

Sounds like a good idea

I wonder how much this would change the proportion of those who are strikers. How will it affect pacing, loadouts, teamwork etc?

However, perhaps to test it let the health increase be about 1.5x; too much change too soon can have disadvantages.

I agree with Shu-Jin-Kang. Having a small buff to the base health would be great and 1.5 times the current health would be good to start testing with. However, I don't think striker class will be any less popular, maybe it's gonna become even more popular cause now you don't have to worry about being a paper but you still do so much damage. This class offers something the other two don't which is mobility, recon should have less MSD and guardian should have double the healing to be balanced with striker in my opinion.

depends how you do it

I agree with the sentiment, but it depends if you are talking about doubling the health the shield gives, or the actual base health. Shield health, while sweet, would scale per class and leave striker behind in "needs pentas" territory, and a base health increase is only an additional 5-10 pips which is a little less than 1 or 2 pentas.

Overall the change would be a net positive but I've personally noticed that more health leads to more frustration when you can't properly fight back due to ping, attack speed, etc. For some reason low health striker is a zen for me while high health striker has a higher chance for me to be salty despite the fact I perform significantly better as a buffed up striker.

Personally I'm leaning more towards class shields being doubled up, however base health and/or armor health (and perhaps defenses, to make them matter more) being doubled up would probably make a more fair and universal experience.
