I currently have Troika as sword and i want plate armor too. the problem is, plate armor has attack speed decrease debuff. Troika is already so slow. I wonder if it effects too much? i literally cant play with this sword if it gets any slower

i did it already
im not really new to spiral knights. i started playing again after a long time. this weapon kinda fun actually. with the outo target thing off, it is better. i agree on the fact it is hard to play like this but i like playing this way. thats what matters.

Yep, the big slow swords are great fun. I just see no reason to pair them with Plate-style armor. Well, enjoy. :)

I know this is super late but...
Troika is trash, really bad, meager damage for its slow attack speed with a charge attack that takes a long time to execute and with no I-frame. If you really want a slow sword, (divine) avenger / faust are the only 2 viable choice in the game.
Plate mail sets are noob traps as well, the ASD it gives will no be worth the meager defense increase it gives you, stun resist is also situational at best. If you really want plate mail go for the volcanic plate set. There are way too many better piercing resist armors out there to justify ironmight set.
Each level of ASI seems to increase or decrease sword speed by about 3% or 4% (measured as full combos per minute here).
The Troika-line swords are fun, but they're not easy. I regard them as a challenge mode for the game.
The real question is why you want Plate-style armor. If you're new-ish to planning equipment in Spiral Knights (I don't know you), then you might benefit from my detailed armor guide.
