First of all, I want to make clear that I would like to commend Grey Havens for this update a ton since now the servers are heavily stable (even if arguably, the server lag-spikes would not really be acceptable in any other game and things should have been a bit more like this since long ago), having more options in terms of both the Crucible Editor and cosmetics in certain helmets is certainly great and it's nice that for once there's been an attempt to address community outrage.
With all of this said... I would also like to say the way the x50 spin has been re-introduced to the standard Golden Prize Wheels is a bit scuffed, or at the very least the way things work now are still worse than how they used to work before (with the exception of when boxes simply did not drop what so ever during certain Slime Casino re-runs).
The issue caused by not being able to cash out on the Slime Coins obtained form the High Wobbler Lounge has been fixed, but now to roll a high amount of times in the regular Golden Prize Wheel like we used to do before, you are forced to use the High Wobbler Lounge, which is still much riskier to use compared to the wheels that allowed the x50 spin with crowns in the past, at least for when it comes to trying to get lockboxes.
According to Cronus response to Sylvieon's "Slime Casino Changes Feedback" post, these changes were meant to make Slime Lockboxes and their respective items "more available to more people" and to make them "harder for a few individuals to try to monopolize the prize boxes unfairly", yet just a quick look at the Auction House will show that these boxes are now being sold at a much, much higher price than how QQQs were being sold before.
This is not the definition of more available, and the boxes having a higher cost to obtain (reflected by their heavy increase in prize in the Auction House) also make it so it becomes easier for certain individuals to monopolize them as only players with a very high amount of crowns to spare will be able to get them in high quantities and sell them, potentially manipulating the prize within Spiral Knights' player-driven market.
There's also of course the issue of the current system still being more tedious and slow than how it worked previously with the x50 spin allowing crowns, since now you: have to roll in the High Wobbler Lounge, go back to the regular Golden Prize wheels, spend all the slime coins you gained, and then move once again to the High Wobbler Lounge to repeat the process. Before these updates, all you had to do was to press the x50 spin button, lose/gain 2000 crowns on average and continue rolling at the click of a button until you got as many Slime Lockboxes as you wanted or until you spent as much crowns as you were willing to.
Not EVERYTHING is bad compared to how the x50 worked before it got removed/reworked, though, now there's the capability of spending as many Slime Coins as we are currently holding in a row if it's bellow 50 without the need to use the rest of the spins remaining with crowns (as in, if I go to the casino with 38 coins, it will instead spin 38 times without spending crowns for the extra 12 spins that would take to make it 50). I think that's a nice quality of feature for those who simply want to convert their Slime Coins into crowns without bothering with Slime Lockboxes much if at all, treating them more like a bonus instead of the main attraction to the Slime Casino.
Overall I just wanna say that the new x50 spin is a good change when compared to the previous one that was done to the Slime Casino (as in, when the High Wobbler Lounge was introduced), but the current state of the Casino is still WORSE than how it was before and does not really do what we have been told the development team has tried to accomplish with these changes.
If anyone from Grey Havens is reading this, I'd like to thank you for your time, and I seriously hope my complaints are read and changes are addressed in the future to improve the Casino further, since now it really just feels like a downgrade compared to how it was before (once again, with the exception of boxes simply not appearing during some re-runs).
Additionally, I'd like to say that if anyone shares my opinions regarding the recent changes or disagrees with my take, I encourage them to also post a comment talking about what they themselves think about the current state of the Slime Casino, since I personally believe feedback regarding recent changes is important more than ever to get the best version of Spiral Knights we could possibly get in the future.
Have a good day, afternoon or night everyone.
