Alongside any changes planned to the arcade, I'd love to see each monster family receive unique rare monsters that could spawn in place of their regular counterparts.
There's currently a few that can replace some of the existing monsters with almost all of those unique mobs having a unique reward that they drop either as a guarantee or with a chance on being slain.
What I'd like to see is 2 things:
- At least one of those drops being always guaranteed (either by killing or doing specific actions that do not involve straight up murder).
- New rare enemies introduced that can replace the existing ones.
To give a couple of examples:
- Friendly wolver replacement that can be killed for nothing or escorted to the elevator to receive it as a sprite pod (or wolver pod). You'd receive the matching status variant of the level it spawned in (i.e. if you get a friendly ash tail, you'll get an ash tail pod and each offensive action of that sprite/wolver would have a chance or guarantee to inflict fire affliction). You could apply this to any beast.
- Collapsing lumber which would drop its arm as a weapon reskin of the avenger/troika line (big beefy mace). Damage and status dependent on the variant of the unique mob that you get to kill.
- Overtimers having a very low chance to drop their tridents/pitchfork (I'm aware that this is not a unique rare mob, but it'd be cool to be given a chance to receive those weapon at similar rates to DFS)
- Outcast thwackers/menders/scorchers/demos fighting their own kin in any gremlin themed level. Help them for a recolored variant of the weapon they carry. If they die, you lose the guarantee of receiving their weapon.
- Mender having a chance to drop their 5* weapon in T3 (similar case to overtimers).
- Collapsing howlitzers dropping their skull that acts as a torto fist, but looks all cool and spooky. Damage and status dependent on the variant of the unique mob that you get to kill.
Why any of this?
I love when my games have unique chase rewards that you can either intentionally farm for or end up receiving due to hitting that sweet luck jackpot. This would also encourage people to run all arcade levels, not just the one that'd yield the most profit during a given week.
Justice for Soul Jelly, the only unique mob spawn that doesn't drop anything.
