Well, I tried once to kill a bunch of T3 frostifurs with nothing else than my shivermist buster, the freeze resist and elemental resist made that veeeeeeery long and I must admit I actually resorted to my sword (the non-frosti alphas that were around were however never a problem, which is nice).

You can use this behavior to your advantage. If you lure a dashing Kat through a detonating Gravation Vortex it can be flung so far that sometimes it de-aggros. This can be very useful when you have lots of Kats to deal with.

I could have joined back in the Beta, left, and come back now as a complete newbie. By looking at joining date, everyone would expect me to know how to duo Lord Vanaduke without deaths.
Stupid things aside, how in the world am I supposed to know he's challenging himself? The way he worded it just made it sound like he was being silly.

See Wolvers, and possibly T3 Oilers (haven't seen them after the nerf).
And if Graviton Bomb/Vortex is the only weapon you have I question what you think of the second weapon slot, or if you even have any other weapons aside from your Proto Sword. Not to be offensive, but you have two slots for a reason.
Something I would like to point out, though, is how the Vapor of the Ice Cubes can freeze anything, even Freeze-resistant mobs, while a Shivermist Buster can't.
