I've been playing Spiral Knights with a friend for a while, and we always seem to have a disparity where he ends up with WAY more crowns than I do. When he solos Tier 1, he can usually walk away with around 6000 crowns, whereas when I do it it's closer to 3000 even if I go in the same gate around the same time. Even when we party, he somehow ends up getting more crowns than I do.
We tested today in a party -- we did Depth 6 and 7 and wrote down the amount of crowns we started with.
I started Depth 6 with 12339 crowns, and had 14001 by the time we got to Moorcroft - 1662 crowns over those two tiers.
He started Depth 6 with 6264, and ended at Moorcroft with 8804 -- 2540 crowns for him.
Why is this happening? I thought everyone was supposed to get the exact same amount of crowns in a party, but that doesn't seem to be the case when we group up. Am I getting less crowns than I should, or is he getting a lot more than is normal? I don't even know what the average is for a T1 run with Arena, but something seems really off.
Crowns are evenly split. He probably got some auction house refunds during the run and didn't take those into account.
I usually get about 4k crowns on a complete Tier1 run in the Snarbolax gate, but I also wait patiently for arenas and mechanized miles (which have a much greater chance for danger rooms, which I also do). If you just go through any old gate, you can easily end up with far fewer per run than someone who exercises a bit more patience.
