The idea in a nutshell: make a new line of blades which combine the knockback of the Troika line with the attack pattern of any three-swing sword.
Why? Everyone who has tried the Troika line knows it's a clumsy weapon, in many cases leaving you too vulnerable to be used much. However, personally I and some others love it for its excellent knockback which is useful in keeping the monsters away from you, alongside with the ludicrous range of the weapon. This sort of a blade would fill a gap, being quite a unique sword.
The lonely major upside is quite obvious: a three-hit weapon is, in comparison to the Troika, much more nimble, making it actually possible to melee fast targets, even Fiends! Futhermore, the three hits could be much more effectively divided to meet opponents coming from different directions.
However, the weapon would have severe drawbacks. The worst one would be that the knockback would hit the monster out of the range of your next attacks, making the weapon extremely poor at damaging single, non-cornered creatures. Obviously, its reach wouldn't be as good as the Troika's, making it a touch more risky when the range comes in handy and speed is secondary - for example, against skeletons with their quick melee attack which cannot reach a decent Troika user.
The extremely poor damage of the weapon would render it either useless, or with decent balancing, quite a unique kind of a weapon. Its purpose would not be to deal heavy damage: the weapon would be excellent in controlling and spreading out groups of opponents. To futher add to its few advantages, it would be excellent if the weapon dealt an occational stun status as well, making it a touch more useful in messing with the monsters.
Bonus points if the blades were not, well, blades, but baseball bats. Who on Earth would turn down a weapon named "The Mad Batter"?
