So I've been trying and trying to beat JK and I just can't do it. Is there a big point I'm missing on this whole thing? I really think I'm not that terrible of a player, but I just can not seem to make it past JK.
Hints? Suggestions? Tips?
Jelly King Help
Although I haven't faced the Royal Jelly yet, I've heard Poison vials are really helpful because he constantly regenerates health otherwise. Either bring a weapon that can poison him, or carry as many poison vials as you can. Fire Vials can help a bit as well.
Poison is essential, either from a vial or a vile striker. Curse is exceptionally helpful and fire and shock are also useful. Don't bother with other vials unless the mobs simply don't drop the better ones.
Throw one of each type of vial, whack him with swords as much as possible, repeat vial throws as status ailments wear off.
You'll want a 4* or better sword (any one will do, but vile striker is optimal). You can possibly get away with 3*, but I wouldn't take a 2* sword unless I was the weak link in a party of 4 (and I still wouldn't do that because I like to carry my own weight). If you must take a 2* sword, take a searing edge so you can inflict fire and thus do more damage.
I've got a Vile Striker, Blizzbrand, and Silent Nightblade (for my 4* swords) I've also got a Toxic Catalyzer (shadow damage with chance of poison)
Is it better to solo or group? I've tried both but to no avail >.<
The first time I soloed it I was in 3* star gear maybe some 4* I forget (think I at least had Ascended Calibur) but anyways I remember only using 3 curse vials and 3 pills but downed it extremely fast, I'd say it's easier solo however luck has to be on your side if you make too many mistakes and get pinned down unable to keep up the dps your pretty much screwed, which is why I'd recommend at least a duo.
the more people who know what to do the easier..
so 4 people who know what to do will down it pretty fast..
but it is definitely easier solo, just because most of the time people won't know what to do
normal and pierce defense works best.
4* tempered calibur or vile striker are the weapons of choice
curse and poison vials are the most important, but with curse vials a very low chance to drop, don't waste them in the stages..
fire is optional, just for a little more damage
start by hitting the ghost block to clear the stage of blocks.
then prepare your vial and step on the party block.
strafe to the side and throw your vial to hit JK, and run up while throwing different vials.
start attacking, try to position yourself on top of the reappearing blocks, or on the other side of them.
when he starts spinning, that's the best time to use your pills.
just as he pops out of the spin, throw another curse at him and poison, and start attacking him.
and that should be about it.
you might need a couple of revives the first time...
but you should get better.
I generally run duo with someone I know and play well with. We have the whole RJP down to a science.
I wouldn't use the toxic catalyzer against the jelly king. It's not fast enough, compared to the vile striker. I'd throw a poison potion to kick things off, followed by curse, fire, shock, then swing my vile striker like a madman, repotioning as needed.
Curse is perhaps the most helpful of the potions, especially if you can keep him cursed through his berzerking, but poison is still critical.
You should get a Piercing resistant Gear like the Dusker set and the Twisted Targe. I wouldn't recommend any 2*gear.
You should get a good sword like Tempered Calibur (good damage) or Vile Striker (inflict poison which is needed to stop JK from regenerating health). You have a Nightblade but since JK is not weak to it like other Jellies, Tempered Calibur is better. Normally I don't bring guns into RJP because gun shots are almost always blocked by the little ones. It is not impossible but it is hard and frustrating.
You must bring vials into RJP especialy poison because it stops JK frm regenerating health. You should also bring fire, curse and shock vials. As curse vials is not very common, you should save it if you see one. Normally I only get about 2 curse vials per run. Otherwise, you can bring health capsules to heal yourself if you are badly damaged (do it when JK is spinning like mad and go to a safe spot so the little mobs and JK won't hit you).
First:
1) get at least 4* piercing/normal armor and 4* weapons. A venom stiker is recommended.
2) get 3 poison vials per party member.
Do not attempt jelly king before meeting these requirements. Doing so will waste your energy and your time.
During the fight, clear the blocks by hitting the ghost block first. Run up to jelly king, poison, curse, then whack away. Reapply poison if necessary. Eventually he'll turn red and start spinning all over the room. He's invincible when he does this, so just block. After he calms down re apply poison and continue attacking. If you run out of poison then give up and try again later.
Other tips:
- Do not focus on the jellies around royal jelly. Those will spawn faster than you can take them out.
- Do not kite jelly king. That will waste your time.
- Block when jelly king attacks.
JK is T2, T2 is meant for 2* gear and 3* gear so if JK is T2, you should probably be able to kill him with all 3* gear. There is nothing wrong with what Zanoni is saying but I think it is strange that it is required to equip 4* gear to beat something that is designed to be beaten by 3* gear. Although I don't recommend going there with 2* gear as it will probably be hard. I also think that the developers weakened JK in the IMF update because it usually takes me 2 minutes to kill him but I managed to kill him in just 1 minute last time. I am not sure if it is just me or it is because I am going with people that doesn't suck.

You are correct. I got frustrated with the Jelly King fight after trying it many times. It took me a while to figure out why. Then, I realized that it was because Jelly King requires T3 gear to beat. He's a T3 boss in a T2 strata. I think they should either move Jelly castle to T3 or reduce Jelly King's difficulty so people in T2 can take him on with 3* gear.
The difficulty I think is aready reduced. Like I said, JK used to take me 2 minutes to beat with a full group, but now in 1 minutes and sometimes less, my group (full group again) can beat JK.
jk actually got harder from the last patch!
he spins about double the times more at phase 2... which hurts....
but this makes the curse vial more useful!!!
so my suggestions are:
1. rush him with all party members at phase 1 (before he moves around the place)
use poison vials if needed (just to lower defense)
2. when he spins around, get close (shields up), wait for him to finish a spin and use curse vial.
3. dont bother using sleep on phase 2: he gets a shield!!!
4. freeze vial at phase 2 stops him from moving around for one spin (after that it breaks)
5. he DOESNT GET HURT WHEN HE SPINS! other players tend to hit him with all they got, only in vain (and pain)
You don't need 4* gear... I beat him with 2* gear before, don't listen to anything anyone says because they aren't skilled enough to realize you can beat anything with low star leveled gear...
Only time I soloed him was because I accidentally went down instead of going up the elevator with my mates (LoL)
I managed to kill him with full 3* equipment, luckily I had 3 poison and 3 curse vials with me... it took two revives though (Without ever shielding; don't remember if I had health capsules or not). Oh, and he died when I had half pipe of health :P
@Dr_Troione: My first solo attempt at JK happened under similar circumstances. I will admit to having a 4* sword though, an Ascended Calibur, and while I did have to revive once, he died about 5 seconds after I did so. He's definitely killable with 3* equipment, and without the Vile Striker. I've done it since then (granted, only once more), without the 4* sword. I used a Nightblade (3*, shadow/normal damage) instead, and again had to revive once.
You'll want piercing defense, which thankfully most of he really popular armor sets provide. I happened to have the Chroma set, so its bonus damage to slimes probably helped. A decent shield will help, again with piercing defense. And I personally think that the Calibur line of swords are the best possible weapon for this encounter. The charge attack is pretty damned ridiculous, because it can hit more than once on targets that are either pinned against a wall, or don't get knocked back. The JK is pretty much immune to knockback, so you should get 2-3 hits from each charge. Just one hit is almost the equivalent of a full 3-swing combo, so it's a very efficient way of dealing damage to him, especially once you learn to follow his Tantrum while charging, and how to shield-cancel your recovery.
Poison and Curse are pretty key though, especially if you're not stupidly overgeared. Contrary to what people have said earlier though, I don't think you should overlap them. Poison stops his healing, but Curse hurts him for trying. (or attacking, or spinning, etc...) Let it be known that the first time he uses his Tantrum ability it'll clear his status. Wait for him to stop, and reapply vials as needed. If you only have one Curse vial, save it for the second phase. It's far more useful when he's going nuts. Fire and Shock vials are useful too, just for providing extra damage.
Besides that, use your shield-push if you get swarmed, and try not to get stuck near corners. A large portion of the fight comes down to not getting stuck somewhere and beat down by 2 layers of jellies. Remember that he spins the same way (anticlockwise) every time he tantrums, and try to anticipate where the space is going to be as he moves.
And honestly, it's going to take a few tries. I'd done the fight in groups perhaps 5 or 6 times before I really had any clue what I was doing, and that was after making sure I read up and watched videos before even attempted the gate he was in. I'd already earned perhaps 40 tokens from him before my first (accidental) solo attempt.
Curse works wonders, concentrate on the royal don't lay off the dps until it goes into spaz mode and starts spinning around the room for that what I like to do is time a charge attack to hit it right when it stops though watch out because it'll do one spin right after then go back to spinning around the room.
