I was just wondering. Would there be any difference in crafting if I were to upgrade a weapon with level 5 heat compared to a lvl 10 heat?

No, weapons have fixed stats with UVs being the only variable, and UVs are related to random chance that doesn't seem to rely on any variables like heat.

A level 1 equip will have the same stats regardless of the level of equip used to make it.

Sometimes it makes leveling

Sometimes it makes leveling weapons kind of pointless, especially if you intend on upgrading it to a higher-star weapon as soon as possible. The level up bonuses are nice, but it would be nice if that heat would accumulate to additional power rather than just be lost in the next upgrade, so there would actually be a point to level up something to 10 instead of just 5 and then craft it.
