Thanks for clarifying nick.
So people.
Let's get back to hunting down the secret!
Also there must be a reason why monomi is named monomi.

Hmmmm...

looking at Pixeljoy's diagram:

http://i56.tinypic.com/w2f4w9.jpg%22

The planet 'Cradle' is shaped like one of the clockwork-pod-things; is this to hint that the entire planet itself is merely a tiny microcosm of an even bigger version of the clockworks?

I mean, the patching/loading screen IS something all players see everyday.

Spiral-ception?

This game is quite nice. If this were a proper MMO type thing with aspects from Puzzle Pirates (an older OOOs game), I would play the crap out of it.

brainstorming..

We are tech knights which assumes we are not of natural birth. Certain gremlins, undead and fiends that are friendly to us and a few slimes that have been domesticated. The rest of the ones we find down in the clockworks are hostile. Haven is an old mining facility that we just took over. Where does all the energy used to power the different functions come from? Does it all come from the core? One of the strangers in Haven states this is not a natural world and is an amalgam of realms not meant to ever be together, reason for creating the clockworks to keep the separate? How do we know we came from somewhere else, can someone edify what we know of events prior to our "crash." Is the clockworks some sort of machine of perpetual motion implied by its spiral characteristics? Is the world of SK some sort of microcosm of the world we live in today? Of course any created world will share similarities with other realms however, whether intentional or not. Gremlins are great artificers capable of creation and destruction, did they create us to act as some form of labour or security for them? What about the dialogues at the end of the Shadow Lairs where it seems some sort of creator is talking about being trapped in his dream? Perhaps he created us to bring these different realms together in one world but something went terribly wrong. The strangers are the only ones who have provided us with direction, could we have returned to our own world only to have found it taken over by these mysterious beings that have tricked us into befriending them. Does this explain why our armour can absorb the form of energy given off by this world? Why did the kingdom of Almire fall and why is Vanaduke always so pissed at us, and why the hell does he think we're wolvers??? Could we be caught up in some epic war in which we are unknowingly playing a part of? Does this explain why the clockworks appears to be in a state of destruction and disrepair? Could the tier 1 and tier 2 bosses be not just for keeping us out, but for keeping someone in? It seems SK has a surface dweller vs. clockwork inhabitant dynamic to it. If we are machine, how did we become sentient? Is the dark ritual a way to put the souls of fallen knights of Almire into mechanical bodies? We don't HAVE to ever go down into the clockworks because we can constantly gather mist and live peacefully in Haven, but we venture down why? To bring back 'shinies', to unlock the core? Who told us to do this? The Strangers, who seem incapable of braving the clockworks themselves so tasked us to do it? Didn't your mom tell you to never talk to Strangers?

IMO A greater effort needs to be put fourth in unlocking new gates or routes to the core. There must be some combination we're missing, I' not the most well informed but it would suck if the path to opening the core just lies in us waiting for new content..

/Nick if you want new content designers I'm a pretty creative person ;)

I was going to suggest that

I was going to suggest that possibly the core is already programmed and in game but just waiting to be unlocked by a certain mineral makeup put into a gate but it looks like Ommelette beat me to it. When we first did the missions and talked to the mineral guy he makes mention of there being combinations that have yet to have been found out.

final brainstorm

sry if I'm necroing a dead thread but there's an uncanny parallel to Dante's inferno here. We share similar path's with Dante who visited the many depths of Hell which is exactly similar to the clockwork depths. Dante was also guided by Virgil, and who did we meet before we crossed the Chasm to Haven? A Spiral Warden named Virgil.

He may be referring to some of the Anti-mineral distributions having a pattern.

BUT

I honestly wouldn't get your hopes up, nor try mass coordination. This is starting to remind me of the Dark Souls Pendant and all the desperate/insane attempts/theories about its true purpose.

@Other gunpuppy dude who had his avatar before me

He may be referring to some of the Anti-mineral distributions having a pattern.

But there isn't, each anti mineral appears the exact same amount of times, and even if you were to try some sort of secret combination of the anti minerals, the anti's just make the strata random anyway so there's no way of discovering what anti's truley hide, if anything.

The papaya thinks...............

Things seen by players everyday: (Tried to mention the ones that haven't been constantly pointed out)
1. The wind
2. The nature
3. Something about the knights themselves
4. (Oh, its raining outside ^^)
5. The loading screen (I really think its this one :P )
6. NPC's (like, how the [papaya] do they stay in that position for so long?)
7. Equipment? (Like how guns appear to have an infinite amount of ammo)
8. Something about the air?
9. How GM's manage to defy the laws of physics?

Explaining:
1. Um, can't really explain this one ^^ Just randomly guessed
2. How does the nature on Cradle stay healthy? The last time I checked, Cradle doesn't seem to have any rain, and living organisms (wolvers, Chromalisks, Gremlins) can't survive without rain. Same thing goes with those snipes and plants................I swear there's something fishy about them snipes X_X
3. Can't say much about this either. But what do our knights do when we log of? What happens to them?
4. ^^
5. Something hidden in it?
6. NPC's have always scared me >.>
7. What energy supply do swords like the Combuster run on?
8. /smell
9. Yeah, how DO GM's do that? And how do the NPC's find it normal? (If they can think, that is)

Ok, I've thought and thought (and thought and thought and thought) but I still think its about 'em snipes. I swear to Mother Papaya that there is something fishy about them, something just isn't right >.> Those kind, modest eyes are hiding something........

@Nick
Please do so =) My brain is bulging from all this thinking :(

Fools. All of you.

#10 is about the secret money-grabbing, time-wasting scheme called Spiral Knights. After players spend considerable amounts of time and money into the game *cough* Laylla *cough* the developers would sometime in the near-future cease all production and make a run for it, leaving players to ruminate on their naivety, rethink their lives and file for bankruptcy.
