Whats with the materials?

Lots of us have noticed that we you try to pick up a materials that it goos to someone else for example:
Lets say you see a "Redwood" material, you try to pick it up but it gos to your partner(s).
You will have a 1 in 4 Chance of geting the material to your self.
Im not sure how this works but please put the regular materials back on SK please

Yeah bro its always been like that. Thats why its always so funny to see you guys dashing around trying to get all the heat coins and mats thinking that as long as you pick it up its yours. There's nothing to "put back"

I don't understand how people consider random as unfair. It could be improved, but it is fair. Say someone has gotten 3 5* mats already, reduce his chance of getting another. I'd say it evens out.
Sometimes it looks unfair but that's how random looks. Recently I was leading a party and noticed that the last 10 drops had gone to me... I kinda felt bad for the other guys, but when I went back up to haven, looking at what everyone had got it seemed to have worked out ok. Sure, it can be annoying if someone else seems to be getting all the good stuff, but somedays that guy is going to be you. It all works out in the long run.
As for rushing around getting all the heat and coins, damn right I do. I know that we all get the same share, but I want to make sure that we get it. Not like some guys rushing through and missing out whole parts of the map... I just hope they aren't the same people complaining about the cost of CE.
Put it back?? and have some stupid players never helping the party and just waiting to rush the good mats while everyone else is dying like it currently happens with pills? no thanks.
Random is truly the best solution. You can't trick the computer by leaving party, joining late, or any weird thing people do. You constantly keep getting royal cores while your friend over there gets sun silver and philoso feathers? Just go solo and you'll 100% of them :)

From what I remember, mats did go to whoever grabbed them in the preview event so there is something to "put back". Checking facts, woooo.
But I echo what Alfa said; you'd end up with tools rushing around for the best mats and screwing everyone else over.
Material pick ups have always been random. It was just in the preview event there was an option when you make a party to share materials or to set it what you pick up is what you get.

Wrong. His chances of getting another remain exactly the same. If his chances reduced each time he got one, he'd be very unlikely to ever get 3 of them, period. Basic statistics, man. The RNG does not change its probability per player unless the number of players change. That's it.
Crowns, heat, and tokens are given to all players in the party. You pick up one, everybody gets a copy of it. Materials and the rarer equipment drops are randomly given to a player in the party. That's how it has always been.
1 person: 100% chance
2 people: 50% chance
3 people: about 33% chance
4 people: 25% chance
It's a roll of the dice. Ask anybody that's done tier 3 runs and they can probably tell you how one person in the party has gotten like three 5* mat drops and they got none, and vice-versa.
