Joining party from Arcade bug

This has happened to me before, but I haven't bothered reporting it until it happened again just now.
I clicked join party on the Emerald Sun Gate for Tier 3 and I joined back on the Arcade. However, it still took the entry fee of 500 crowns and 10 energy. This has also occurred on a tier 2 jelly gate.

Friend Join or from one of the Gate Terminals? And did it try to drop you into a map before sending you back?
