While it would take up another button to the people using controllers (like me), I think the game would benefit greatly from an Interact button that is separate from Attack.
The Interact button would do all the things that the Attack button does when you have the Interact icon above your head.
It would prevent:
1. Resurrecting a player that is underneath you instead of swinging your weapon, causing you to die or putting you in a compromising position.
2. Picking up a key or pot when you meant to swing your weapon.
At this point in time, you have to avoid dead players entirely or you might accidentally cut your health bar in half and initiate the animation of resurrecting instead of knocking enemies back. You also have to avoid objects entirely or you might get yourself killed due to being unable to attack with the object around.
Downsides:
1. It would add another button to do something you could have done in one.
Ways to counter this would be to have the Attack button put down objects or throw objects as usual, but to pick them up, you'd need to press Interact. This would make it so that if you're holding a pot or key, you could easily put it down again by pressing Attack, but you wouldn't accidentally pick it up unless you meant to.
