Do I smell or something?

I dont get it.. I put up flyers in the bazaar - lower prices than other people doing the same thing a day later.. and their stuff sells..

they get offers coming to them that I'm just asking for.. and they're not even asking for them

so I put my stuff on the auction house.. stuff that's better than the competition.. and yet it's currently looking at being sold for <50% of the next nearest rival- tell me who wants a dusky bandolier over a fancy one - seriously??

What is going on..

no one wanted my sealed sword with ASI high for anything near a reasonable price.. then I see someone sell a DA for 12K ce - just like that.. within hours.. I've been peddling my wares for days..

my tempered calibur ASI high and CTR high.. not a sniff.. then another thread goes up and someone gets a bite instantly..

Is it me?

can you scratch and sniff my thread and tell me what it is.. because I just don't know..

is it because Im new to the trading market and unknown..

are my prices (that are at least 20% lower then the next) somehow putting people off?

I can't even shift prismatic helm guards..

prismatic for pete's sake (sorry pete)..

Im going to grab some cheese to go with this whine and let you guys mull it over..

Let me know what Im doing wrong please because I want to be able to trade and get a fair price for the things Im putting my time and CE into.

I'm not an economist

Here are my guesses:

  • For the desirable items (Sealed ASI, Calibur ASI CTR, etc.) you are asking too high of a price.
  • For the accessories, the market is new and in flux. A lot of people have written them off, because they're so expensive. The "practical" players don't go for them at all. So your market is small.
  • Sometimes there is a glut of an item on one day, and a scarcity on the next day. Maybe you got unlucky, and would do better on another day.
  • Maybe you posted a price, but later people posted lower prices, and their stuff sold before you could notice, and this depressed demand.

If you're offering low prices, then either it's for an item that no one wants at all (some accessories?) or it's for an item that no one wants on the day of your sale (just bad luck/planning).

My recommendation: Before you pump a lot of crowns and CE into this business, take a step back and observe the markets for a couple of weeks, to work out the ideal prices and timing. Good luck.

I've been watching the market since July..

the items Im offering lower prices on are on the desirable items. At least I think they are.. I was only asking for offers.. people could have low balled.. (ok 2 did) but I didn't even get offers. It's weird, to see so many items for less just get bumped and bought. (Sealed sword ASI, calibur ASI high/CTR high) - I've now taken it upon myself to make the sealed sword into a GF just because no one seems to have any interest while it's a little lower down the chain.

I am talking about interest mainly on the bazaar on the forums..

not a single reply and then someone posts the same item.. at a higher price and gets a sale.

Ty for your advice tho.. I think anyone who thinks they can just make money trading without being shrewd should heed your words.

Ohh subby... you made my day

Ohh subby... you made my day bidding on my bandolier.. but .. I just dont see how it's quite viable without rolling UV's... well it is - it's just really slow and just as risky..

lets say we sell a polaris for 6.5k ce.. thats IF you can sell it. after getting your hands on a pulsar.. and doing it up.. I think it's something in the region of 5.4k ce to make and unbind not including the mats and the energy+time used to heat it up..

so lets say a conservative 5.5k ce and sell for 6.5.. making 1k ce.. which is about 50-60k... but only when there's a buyer around..

in saying that I've had some amazing turn ups in the AH.. and at the same time some amazing bum downs.

So.. let's get our merchant-ising on and maybe you can show me some new ways that aren't so labourious.

Polaris?!

You're trying to sell 5-star stuff? That might explain things. If I wanted to buy a Polaris, I would never buy at 5-star, because I'd have to absorb the seller's enormous unbinding fees. I would buy at 2-star or maybe 3-star and upgrade it myself. So if a lot of people are thinking like me --- and they are --- then the market for your Polaris is very small, and may experience higher volatility than the markets for other goods.

In general, you seem to sell a lot of premium items (accessories, items requiring unbinding). Your rich target consumer may have to decide whether to buy your Polaris or your accessory; you may be competing against yourself. This doesn't explain why your Calibur ASI CTR didn't sell, though. And you've been watching the market since July. Well, sorry for your troubles. :(

About the Bazaar forum: Maybe a lot of Steam players, who can't (or couldn't, but now can? --- I don't know) post to these forums, don't check the Bazaar forum. I post to these forums a fair amount, and even I never check the Bazaar forum. I also don't listen to the /trade channel. I buy from Basil, friends, miscellaneous people in the town square, and the Auction House.

Well I was just using the

Well I was just using the polaris as an example.. I've done a few items to order for people.. and ended up selling some stuff on the AH through either sheer fluke or because I saw a gap and there was a buyer out there (somewhere).

the trouble with low star stuff is still you've gotta roll a uv on it to make it worth anything.. whereas a 5* cn still carry it's own weight.. yu can make 600-700 CE off of it.. but like I say thats IF you sell it.. same goes for any level of weapon tho.. the market is flooded with everything but 5* equip and weapons, but the people who can afford them already have them for the most part.

tempered calibur ctr high is on the AH.. and pretty much only has a bid on it because someone was doing me a favour.
