Having a hard time making them die in a burning blaze

So I got the blazebrand series and now my sword's a combuster. It says it has a good chance of making things catch fire but the entire time while using this sword series I have not made one enemy catch fire with it. Is this some sort of bug?

Only causes status on charge

Only causes status on charge attacks, same for the rest of the brandish line ie. Glacius and Voltedge
