Rough formulas for damage type bonuses/penalties?

I'm wondering if anyone has taken the time to work out the exact (or even approximate) modifiers damage type introduces.

I.E.

What % of damage you deal to undead/construct with elemental, or what % you deal to beast/gremlin for that matter.

There are times it seems huge (shadow driver does >150% damage to jellies) and other times it seems utterly insignificant (My piercing gun is doing more damage than my shadow gun to gremlins who are weak to shadow?).

I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but I haven't had a willing partner to gather enough data myself.

Anyone have a better idea?
