In non combat levels, such as the towns apart from haven and crossroads, characters using guns should be able to use their weapons like paint ball guns, dying the opposing players their personal color. I dig that, man.

Oh man, that sounds like great hilarity, as long as it would change back to your original color after a bit, or there was a way to change back to your original color, because I'm sure a permanent change would upset/anger a lot of people.
Bombs could have like, an AoE paint splash, too, or something.
