Whats the best 3* sword to aim for? Just got to tier 2 and I'm hoping to get better equips :D

Arsenal; 5-star; piercing/elemental/shadow
Please move this to the Arsenal forum.
The expert players, whose advice you apparently seek, think entirely in terms of 5-star equipment, because that's where everything ends up (unless you're focused on T1 or T2 Lockdown). There are countless forum threads on "Which 5-star sword should I aim for?" See the Swordmaster article on the wiki for a mediocre summary.
If you haven't already done so, read the wiki page on Damage. You will come to the conclusion that you want a piercing weapon, an elemental weapon, and a shadow weapon (even if you carry only two of these at a time). This explains Bigfootm's thought process above. I disagree with his recommendations, however. I'd say:
- Piercing: Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade (not the other two)
- Elemental: Combuster, Glacius, Voltedge, or Divine Avenger (all of them are good)
- Shadow: Acheron or Gran Faust (they're different but both nice)
The same advice applies for guns. It doesn't really apply to bombs, which are more idiosyncratic.

Sorry about the location of this topic. Didnt notice the arsenal section.
Is it a good idea to go for the calibur upgrade first since it's probably good against a lot of types and I dont think I can buy multiple weapons yet.
Or should I completely skip that?

I personally got a Calibur
I personally got a Calibur from day one and seven months later the Leviathan Blade is still one of my most used swords. It's both balanced and finanically viable in my eyes.

My picks
For PvE, swift flourish, one of tempered calibar or sealed sword. All of these are very accessible and reasonably priced.
For PvP, swift flourish, sealed sword or nightblade. With the piercing swords getting more popular and people are getting more piercing resistance, I would actually recommend sealed sword or nightblade now. Grintovec deserves a mention also but it's not as accessible as the other weapons.
This actually depends on your gear.
Here's my opinion of the best to choose from:
For Piercing Damage, a Twisted Snarble Barb, and upgrade it to a Barbarous Thorn Blade.
For Elemental/Shadow Damage, a Sealed Sword, and upgrade each one (You'll need 2) into a Avenger and Faust. This will then be a Divine Avenger and Gran Faust.
If your goin to use the Sealed Sword Line, you'll want to be wearing a Vog Cub Set which comes from the Wolver set: Wolver>Dusker>Ash Tail>Vog Cub/Skolver/Snarbolax
