You read the title, and now it's time for me to explain;
So basically, I've spent about 100 k CE on opening lock boxes now. No wait, 120 k CE, Oh geez, I have no idea. Let's just say 100k+ CE, shall we?
Okay, so that's a lot of CE, I suppose. But the thing is that I promised myself I would start SAVING money, instead of wasting it! So that in case OOO decided to put rare accessories in a new auction, I'd definitely make a bid!
But I just seem to buy MORE silver keys every day! (Not every day, but you get the point.)
Is he addicted? Of course.
Not.
Not yet, I think. But I'm afraid I might be, if I keep doing this.

Basically, stay away from Boost. He is the devil, and he wants your energy...and he wants all of it.
Best of luck saving up. Hopefully you'll be more successful this time around. Oh, and here's a tip: Keep all of your wealth in crowns and only buy energy when you absolutely need it, i.e. refilling for more spelunking or crafting equipment. Have fun.

Just to give you some
Just to give you some perspective. I've bought the 20k CE pack once, and both the special packs. I've been playing since.... June, I think. I have no plans to buy anything more. I also haven't bought any new equipment for quite some time now. I typically just slowly accrue crowns/CE via Clockworks runs and reselling Basil recipes with the occasional token reward (Though I am keeping my forge, grim, and primal sparks because I have this weird feeling that eventually OOO will release something hot that will cost a lot of them, and I want to be ready when this happens). I've reached 1 million crowns fairly regularly with this method. Now on to the topic.
I tried to roll single UVs on equipment awhile back, using up probably 1 million crowns total. Now I'm a mathematician so I should know better than to fiddle with 'lotteries'. So after that initial depressing investment into gaining pretty much nothing I've since stopped gambling. My motto now is to save up crap-tons of crowns/CE and just buy equipment with the UVs I want and/or accessories I want.
Perhaps you should try this if you're aiming for a particular accessory.

About the whole "Equipment >
About the whole "Equipment > Accessories" I already "beat" the game long ago. I have like, four 5* sets already, and a lot of 5* weapons too. I don't need equipment, so until OOO releases a new update, I'd like to get my hands on a prismatic halo, or fancy wolver tail accessory.
