Operation Skylark shall be discontinued, but I still want to wrap up the story behind Lachesis, so enjoy this:
[Somewhere in Candlestick Keep, T3] (Alex narrative)
I ran fast. I quickly sheathed Lachesis with a quick metal slide and attempted to sprint forward. Narrowly dodging a fire pit, turning around a corner, I found myself behind a force field near an Everlit Candle. A small enclosed room that felt oddly comfortable being so small. “Oh boy, they won’t get me here,” I said while gasping for air, lying down on my back from my tiredness. I have to admit; those Cursekats sure are a pain in the Snipe.
I fell fast asleep, and I had another dream. In that dream, I dreamt of a gigantic rusty factory surrounded by lava. There were dense reddish clouds above that looked like they could rain down blood any moment. My point of view flew through a window near the bottom to reveal this factory digs down into the lava, as if it’s drowning, but standing firmly still. What that was even weirder were the workers. They were no workers - they were puppets. There were lively-looking puppets which wore potato sacks as bodies and bamboo hats on their heads. Speaking of, their eyes were deep black holes with a beige pupil, and their mouth was simply a scratch sewed up with wire, as if they couldn’t speak. Regardless of the soulless overall look they seemed very happy with their work. I looked down and saw a huge bulbous machine that was pumping more steam than a steamroller train. It had a meter on which pointer was in the middle of a yellow section between green and red. As soon as a puppet noticed it, the puppet shouted out some gibberish, contrary to my thoughts about their abilities, and the machine puked lava as the meter went back to green.
I started wondering about the purpose of this factory - isolated, built of lava, and it didn’t look like producing anything. My point of view soon swooped down and went in a small doorway, to reach what looked like a dungeon. I looked to my right to see a boy and a girl, famished with emotionless faces. I couldn’t feel no pity for them being trapped in this horrible place. I looked out of the doorway, and saw a shimmering orb rise from the lava, brighter than the sun. It reached for the cells, and split for both the kids. Soon they gained some weight and some emotion on their faces, but they quickly turned to orbs, one purple and one white, and flew out of their cells. They went out of the jail, out of the factory, and I followed them with blind familiarity. The puppets looked at them half-astonished, but they couldn't care less. each one grew 2 eye-shaped lights that were pointed backwards.
“Well Faust, I don’t think this place deserves to last, don’t you think?” A forgiving tone came out of the white orb, sounding much like Avenger. “I do feel a little destructive today,” A squirmy voice with a tone of doom came from the purple one; Definitely Faust. Before I could raise memories, Avenger shined as bright as the orb from before, and the lava ocean grew darker. Faust let out a brilliant purple shine, truly terrifying me, freezing the lava into my favorite mineral - Obsidian. I thought now that there’s no lava, the bulbous machine would stop working, so I went into the factory through the top window. I saw all the puppets gathered around the machine wondering why the meter’s at 0, deep in the green. Suddenly, the factory started sinking, and I panicked. I quickly rose back out, on the way watching the puppets not care. I ran back to Avenger and Faust, for a perfect view of a crumbling past doom factory.
Avenger and Faust looked delighted. a moment later, they vanished with a teleport.
I found myself behind them again, this time at nighttime right near the Spiral Hotel. I saw them move through an open window which sounded with my own sleeptalk, but just before they were in the window’s frame, blackness.
I woke up, sat up, and tried to grasp for Lachesis, but instead saw 2 orbs - purple and white. They morphed into young human figures with respective colors. “I thought it’s about time you get to know a little more about us”, said the white figure, which I truly recognized as Avenger. “Since we know you understand easily, let me sum this up for you - one of us can take larger control of the 2 of us depending of your emotions,” squirming the purple figure - Faust. “If you feel wise and safe, I will lead you,” announced Avenger. “And if you feel as bloodthirsty as me, I’m gonna take over,” Faust smiling.
“That explains why Lachesis grew pitch black when I looked into Jellyking’s jelly eyes,” I answered. “Eeyup,” Faust agreed. “However, I still don’t understand how you 2 are now a sword, when you used to be 2 famished emotionless kids, no harm intended,” I raised doubt. “Your doubt is justified, for us to be tied; you get a half moon - Lachesis. It can grow white, and it can grow pitch black, so you’re guaranteed to never stay back,” Avenger sounding like a riddletalker. “…I’m messing with celestial beings here…?” I nearly got terrified of the honor of working with the celestial. “That’s one way of looking at it, as long as you’re not up to no good,” Faust declared.
"We are past habitants of Aurora kingdom, which was destroyed by Haven and the so0called Strangers. In reality, they're doom devices each. The factory we were in was just a huge prototype for one," Avenger said vaguely.
“Anyway, I feel like you’re longing for safety and wisdom, which means as a sword, we will glow brilliantly like the sun, and let you expel the Cursekats,” Avenger advised. Soon enough, they morphed into Lachesis in my hand, and it indeed glowed bright like the sun. I went out of the small room, to see the Cursekats just chilling outside, quickly charging towards me when I looked at them. I put Lachesis forward, and charged into them, to impale them like nothing. A few more Cursekats were around, and I let a swooping cut around me, scattering the impaled Cursekats everywhere and knocking off the rest. They all got up, and I knew it was time for battle. Overhead swing into a head starter meant death for it, so I kept up with a sweep to the one behind it. The Cursekats behind me got my back indeed, and I felt like dying, but I managed to skewer the backbiter and sweep the others. Oh man, that was fun, but I’m not quite done with these clockworks.
