Is the GF and the DA a bit old school?

----Before you start reading, I'd like to say that this is my own opinion, and you might disagree, but if you're going to COMPLAIN then GTFO right now----
Weapons that are rather outdated, would be the sealed sword series.
Either you had a Gran Faust, Divine Avenger, or both. They were the best choice as far as I can remember.
Well of course you had the striker series too, but BLARGHHHH...
Back to the DA and GF.
I know a lot of people still use them, but they are getting replaced with weapons like the BTB and FF.
Myself, I've always used the GF and DA, because I think they make a good combo, but these NEW weapons that they release just keep getting better and better.
**You know the Argent Peacemaker and the Sentenza? People were CRAZY about them in the start! Now you got the new guns that deal shock dmg and all sorts of things. I'm not even sure why I have my sentenza anymore..**
So yeah, I will probably, most likely, craft myself a BTB or a FF sooner or later.
It was nice knowing you, my dear old swords ;n;

aside from that^,
Have you considered monster resistance vs damage type on weapons? BTB is a great sword, even really fun, but it does not dmg jellies (for example) like a GF.
Are debating damage numbers or aesthetics here?
Please advise.
Well, yea, I guess the Sudaruska outclasses those weapons in their primary utility (not counting a certain charge attack). But it's nice that they made a 5* for the old fun Khorovod.
Anyways... how are they outclassed? I can't see bringing a FF into arena being better than what either DA or GF can do.

non of the swords are "new" to me but i dislike the piercing swords (and i love SS line, would like to say heavy swords but the Troika line kinda looks useless) :D
to counter NOT having a piercing weapon i use my gran faust against wolvers and beasts (works like a charm imo) and divine avenger against greavers. for devilites i'm choosing the levi more the last few rounds but still can't think of a good weapon to handle a mob of 16 devilites... (piercing line is more a 1 target thing)

It's not like I didn't already know they deal different kind of elements. I'm talking about the fact that several weapons are now getting stronger than the old ones. Might have been a bit off the topic when I wrote this, but eeh, I didn't ask for any complaints either so.

"Several weapons are now getting stronger than the old ones." How are they "getting stronger"?
Please explain.
Wow how are you going to ask a question in the title and when people try and debate about it you say you don't want "complaints" FYI these are complaints they are criticisms about your perceptions on the weapons.
Anyways no, the sealed sword line isn't being "fazed out" or nothing. They are still one of the best (if not THE best) end game sword line. Wide arch on swings, immense damage, you have a shadow one and an elemental one, amazing charge attack, the GF can inflict status. There are hardly any downsides to these swords other than the fact that the charge takes kind of long (but this can be negated through UV's and trinkets), and they do split damage (and even then they still do moderate damage against things that they are resistant to, and if you have both you can do immense damage to any mob). The only competition they have is the elemental brandish line vs DA (which I'd go with DA because you can do more damage in less wings, and the charge attack outclasses the elemental brandish's charge, it just can't inflict status) and the Acheron vs GF (in this case I'd choose GF for status and charge attack).
TL:DR Don't ask a question in the title and not expect criticisms. And I absolutely disagree because sealed sword line is still one of the best endgame swords due to many reasons.

All this discussion is valid for PvP since toothpicks are amazing, but doesn't make sense if we are talking of the clockworks.

Umm...
Ok well I'll try to keep this short
First off The FF and BTB are NOT replacing the Sealed Sword series.
Why?
Well considering that a DA and GF can out DPS those swords easily on almost any monster (check damage table >.>) And the way they are used makes them probably still the best.
BTB and FF have primarily grown in popularity due to the good uses of them in Lockdown.
But even then the GF/ DA is a 2 hit kill basically so they can still outclass the BTB/FF
Not to mention the Charge attack of a DA is significantly more useful for players then the others, considering the level of a gameplay you need to acquire it is high as it is, and the charge is great for crowd control or overall good way of making a "wall" to kill enemies with.
I have a BTB. I have recently begun crafting my DA. I believe that I've been using them equally if not the Avenger more. (The first swings that you will use more often are the same kind.)
With the Avenger knocking out at least 1 monster in every level of the clockworks, as even in beast stratums there can be Gun puppies, arenas, etc. and the sheer damage output given by the DA, there's almost no use for BTB or FF (of course there IS a good use for it, the DA can make up for it easily.)
So really I think that the DA and GF are outclassing the BTB and FF. The main reason the BTB and FF are used is for a fast weapon in situations, for example, Lockdown.
Either way, you still get a great sword.
FYI
No other swords other than the Voltedge have been added recently. Guns cant compare due to different classes and such and bombs are crowd controlling. The DA is in basics, probably the most reliable sword you will ever have.
Is the Polaris just seeming OP for you? If so then compare guns not Swords

Of DA, GF, and BTB/FF, each one out-DPSes the others against its preferred monster types (e.g. undead and constructs for DA). What's surprising is that BTB/FF does almost as much DPS against gremlins as GF does (387 vs. 399), and almost as much DPS against undead as DA (387 vs. 412). (These figures come from Lancer Knightz, which is combining timing tests with wiki damage tables, and concern non-charge attacks only.) In addition, BTB/FF is of course much faster, but has a nice wide first swing that can hit multiple monsters.
I do think that BTB/FF does its thing better than any other sword does its thing. And the Brandishes certainly out-DPS DA/GF against single enemies. But DA and GF are still good swords.

IMO:
Voltedge>DA>Glacius for party runs
Glacius>Volt>DA for solo
Acheron>GF always (assuming max ctr)
And I use all of those swords both equally and extensively and have so since pre steam.
In PVP, GF and BTB own, but I have a hunch acheron will do better for my playing style than GF does.

@Marcusspiralcus, Oic.
@Xylka-Mkii, I did compare the Sentenza, Argent Peacemaker, with "newer" guns that have been released. Wasn't that spesific, but still.
What are you talking about?
The DA, GF, And FF/BTB all three fill different rolls. They are not direct competition for each other at all.
The Elemental Brandish lines are competition for the DA (Elemental Sword). The Shadow Brandish line is competition for the GF (Shadow Sword). The FF and BTB are basically the same Piecing sword with equally good but different charge attacks, so there is basically no competition for Piercing swords (the status flourishes are a joke & not worth considering now that the Ridadoon is "fixed").
You are talking crazy talk. If you shelve your sealed swords for BTB and FF... have fun with constructs and slime...
