I'm of the opinion that the Spiral Knights are constructs. My reasons are thus:
*Our eyes glow.
*We need energy for activity.
*Our standard armor (cobalt set) is resistant to piercing, characteristic of constructs and slimes. The armor isn't slimy.
*Most of our favorite weapons deal elemental damage, characteristic of constructs and gremlins. We're not gremlins.
*We have relatively little gear that deals or resists shadow damage, similar to constructs, which don't deal and are neutral to shadow damage.
Reasons against the above theory:
*Hearts give us health. Machines don't have hearts.
*Occasional references to our eating jelly. Machines don't need to eat.
*We need heat, characteristic of living things.
*Phantoms appear to be undead Spiral Knights. Machines aren't living, and therefore can't become "undead."
However, since all monsters generate hearts and heat, even other constructs, they cannot serve as solid evidence against our being constructs. Similarly, some machines have been invented which can use organic matter to generate power for themselves, eliminating the consumption of jelly as evidence against our being constructs. The only evidence that remains against our being constructs, then, is the presence of undead Spiral Knights known as Phantoms. If Trojans, too, are fiendish Spiral Knights, and if fiends are living creatures, then Spiral Knights aren't constructs.
What do you think? Are we constructs?
