Usernames: How did you get/make yours?

Just a Share Thread, no biggie.
I got mine from my love for Helmets(Iron Skull) & because I am(or WAS...) a Kid. I also add a 99 at the End on other Forum Sites/Online Games, because most games that I played back then always had a x99 Cap on everything.

I used to be "Zapphire[insert year of registration here]" (at the time I really like sapphires, and put a Z to sound cooler), then internet people decided to make it cute so then I was "Zaphy". I don't remember how the S came back into the name, but when I discovered my first OOO game (YPP) and saw that "Saphy" was taken, I added "kun" because yay anime, and voila, i r Saphykun
Came for the Tf2 hat, gave myself a sarcastic name.
Stayed a while :P

My name comes from a starburst commercial

USEF is my clan which I've been in for about seven years

When a Love Puppy and a Rock Jelly who like each other very much are left alone....
I actually can't remember anymore, I've been using this name for a long time now. I think it comes out some old family word that has long been lost in obscurity. Usually tossing the zeros in for o's to guarantee it being a bit more unique and lower the chances of it already being taken.

I used to be LichAnikan. Fan of magic, especially those mythical ones. And i'm a starwars fan too. But it was taken.
I got Sothe from fire emblem:rising dawn. A nice game i bought for the wii.

"Cesar" wasn't available, so I used the same name as my Twitter account.

it was a revelation.
a word sent by god.
my god.
yeah I was just bored and decided to brainstorm nicks.

"HI Billy Mays with MIGHTYPUTTY!"
There's your answer xD

/shrug.
I'm not entirely normal (that is, the same as everyone else0, not in a good OR bad way, and this IS a fighting game...
And because I'd use variations of of Psycho, Valkyrie or Zenith for most of my games.

It was supposed to be LaN since I used that name for years in every game but It had to be more than 3 letters so I just used 2 L's.
Though thanks to the way the letters in the game look, people call me Lian.

I wanted to name my character "Helix," but it was already taken. But I like the number three, and Trihelix sounded better than Threehelix.

I jumped at the chance to be Kraken during the preview event. There weren't a lot of people (relatively) playing yet, and it wasn't taken. I'm a little obsessed with sea monsters. The friends that I played with then all made a guild of Greek Mythology sea monsters. The rest have since left. The guild now is "Cake or Death" from an Eddie Izzard sketch that I love.
My "normal" or at least most often used forum name is Raineach just about everywhere else. It's Scottish Gaelic for "braken" or "fern." Didn't translate too well to the game. Everyone thinks its "rain-each" like rain each day.
And I'm really OCD about names. I created and deleted a whole bunch of knights because the name wasn't just right, or the personal color wasn't really what I wanted. There comes a trade off point where you invest so much into a character you can't justify deleting it.
I also invest time in Alt characters for the same reasons. I love to accessorize and play with the look of the character. My alt: Viggo is named for a "war-like, battle, or fight" in Nordic origins. So of course he has to have the Troika, Grintovec etc line. Viggo has about half as many hours logged as Kraken. So, a lot of what goes into the name has to do with the persona that I am setting up for the character. I also love Viggo Mortensen, though the name had nothing to do with him and much more to do with Ghostbusters 2.
... I even have a third knight on the account, Duskbunny, which holds down the original guild, just in case. I started with Kubaryana which is the latin species name for the Variable Neon Sea Slug. Look it up - it is awesome. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nembrotha_kubaryana). But that name was long and possibly a pain for others to remember with so many syllables. I made lists of names to choose from, tested several to see if they were taken before deciding on the last. Duskbunny roughly equals dust bunny... but wearing dusky theme.
I love usernames that are cleverly manipulated or just quirky in some way. Like Spaztronaut, Gigglegasm, Nineinchnuts, Steampink, Trashbocks, Derpules, Berzerkules. Steampink in particular is so great because a single letter changes the whole connotation of the name while including the original reference.
TLDR: Picked from a list, changed my mind several times.
... I think I just revealed how OCD I am about this topic.

I run by two usernames, Teridax and Xairathan. The former is a Bionicle name, the latter is one I made up on my own. Teridax was taken, so here I am XD

Memento is the second person of the latin imperative form of "remember!"
and is also part of two famous sentences I love:
Memento Mori = Don't forget you will die.
Memento Audere Semper = Remember to always dare
Nonetheless means in english "Something to forget not"
And is also a kickass movie.

I've been using Ayln for quite a long time now, but I think it was taken (or else I was bored with just Ayln). I usually add a 9 or 90 to the end of it if it's too short, too, so Ayln9 -> Ayln nine -> Aylnine.

Mine is obvious. Avatar is misleading.

I was going for something sciencey, I think, and I just ended up cutting off "brom-" from "bromthymol" and changed the "y".
I think.
As for "Sylvanius", it was just "Sylvani(a)"+"-us", just for that Dog Latin look.

I've been using this for a few years, with a 123 on top.
Why? The main character in my favorite book series is named Will, and he's a Ranger.
=p
1 originality, 0 what ever else.

So I have two accounts. My main is Anakletos, which I found via a Random Name Generator. It means something along the lines of "One who invokes fear"
Traevelliath is a reference to tabletop Warhammer 40,000. The first name of one of the Dark Eldar characters is Traevelliath. Most people know him as Duke Sliscus.
Everyone knows the old cliche of a "knight in shining armour" right? Well, I'm a second-rate one of them.
Ok, dead-last-rate. I'm a terrible person.

Aubie is the tiger mascot of Auburn University, my alma mater. I have been using this name online, whenever it's available, for roughly 20 years.

I decided to change my online alias to Unknownlord from a laser tag match I played with a friend a long time ago, as well as not wanting to be referred to (in part) as a number.
Also, this is my first post here.

About 3 years ago I was chatting with a friend, inventing cool usernames when I remembered "Phaaze" from the Metroid game series. Phaaze is a blue toxic substance which has an enormous role on the game back story. Therefore, Blue-Phaaze, without an A to make it simpler. I also use Red-Phaze in some other games.

Had this as my e-mail username for well over a decade, and have had it in countless games and forums since, to the point where I googlin' it just comes up w/ a lot of game sites that I've used, so when I joined SK, I just stuck with the ole' reliable!

Before I made an account I checked the wiki to read up on things, so I didn't noob every second of the game.
I checked the monsters first and the image of the treants stuck to my memory.
They are like trees so I assume oak. (Although I know it doesn't exactly look like it)
A gear is their waist.
So I choose Oakgear as my knight.
(Why trojans are my favorite enemy is another thrilling story)

I liked dragons a lot as a kid (and still do) read books about dragons, drew them, wrote little stories about them, etc.
Then eventually I got into Latin and found out 'Draco' was Latin for dragon.
Then I read some Timothy Zahn and there you go.
I like more than one style of combat.

I tend to play with my words instead of eating them. It drives Provi crazy.

Well, I tried Skyflare and even Horizon, but those were all taken. the next thing on my mind was Skyber.

I used to RP (then summer ended and I got flooded in homework), anyway one of my favorite characters was a mummy call Itep. I really liked the name so I chose it for this.

but actually, It is defined as an account (or the story of), hence the Christian gospels...
Its also the name of a character in a comic I'm making...

My real name, you can find me on FB under the same name (there's 3 on there spelled "Gwenyvier", I'm the one with Mc in the last name). It's a unique enough spelling that it's not normally used on sites/games.
~Gwen

Scrappy was taken so I went with the formal version of it. At least I think it is?

Not sure why I even picked this name instead of the name I usually go by online.
But I just nicked it from Windwaker.

Well I like Bears and I like to sleep XD

I've been using this handle since 2000. Don't plan on changing it now. Back then on the internet it was somewhat popular to take the sprites from video games, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, and make comics out of them as well as custom characters using them as a base. I had a character in a friend's comic who was a terramancer, hence the name Dirt. It was somewhat creative in it simplicity then. Hard to nab it as a username these days, though.

An Arquebus is a type of old flintlock rifle. When I was first looking around on the Spiral Knights site, I was taken with the medieval-futuristic fusion of the equipment and visual style, and wanted a name to reflect that. A janky old gun seemed perfect, since it's got a good mix of fantasy (janky old) and sci-fi (gun) connotations. It's also a pleasing collection of syllables, and shortens well to Arq.
I have since become a pure gunner, so the fact that I named myself after a gun is highly appropriate!

Now that I come to think about it:
I don't know :O

Merethif used to be my nickname when I was a kid and me and my school friends created some "secret society". If you belong to such "secret society" you need of course, not only some secret hideouts in woods or secret cryptic alphabet but also secret nicknames. I took it after some TV cartoon character named Meredith (he was a wizard or something), but because it was before I've started learning English, I've written it as Merethif :-D and so it stays.
When my adventure with MMO had began I've decided to use this nickname. My first MMO ever was PuzzlePirates and Merethif suits it well because it may be read as Sea Thief ;-)
In polish word kurort means SPA but it sounds graceful for me >,< also you in polish ku sounds as same as Q so I just cut T at the end.
