Egoblaster's 0-29 Proto Sudden Death Dash (29PSDD) Hall of fame
This is a challenge that will test an individual’s skills and agility. The challenge is MOSTLY skill based however to the individual it’s a test, a test to prove that they have the skills to be a Spiral Knights master! For the collective its race, a race to the top of the ladder. To be quick and to avoid death. That is the goal. Will you be the one? Or the one who rules all?
Rules and conditions:
1. You are only permitted to wear 0* armor and helm
2. You are permitted to carry a shield up to 3*. However the player has 2 choices:
a. They choose to use the shield and forgo all assists (7 in total)
b. They choose the assists and forgo the use of the shield
3. The use of no more than 1 trinket is permitted
4. A player is permitted to use weapons up to and including 5*
5. I will accompany you on the run however I will provide no combat assistance whatsoever (this excludes shield bumps, revives and assists). For this to be possible i must remain alive at all times. also if in the event i do die i will revive myself.
6. Each stage must be cleared as quickly as possible however some enemies may/should be killed along the way (not all the enemies need to be
killed and danger rooms are not compulsory)
7. The event will be timed and all deaths (by the challenger) will be taken into account. The final time will be calculated to the nearest minute. This is the players score and is calculated by multiplying the time by the number of deaths incurred (by the challenger NOT the host to be clear on this!!!!!!). (Eg. 3hours 0mins and 2 deaths = 180 minutes multiplied by 2 = 360 points).
8. Under NO circumstances are the contestants allowed to tell the host of the challenge to die intentionally for ANY reason. (Please refer back to rule 5)
NOTES:
Assists:
- An assist is when I will provide full combat support for a single depth this can be requested at any time but only 7 assists will be provided (CHOOSE WISELY WHEN USING THESE!!)
Scoring:
- When calculating a score and a player’s death total is 0 then the score is 0.
- And if the score is 1 the score is unchanged
- Each death adds a penalty multiplier to the final time (eg: 100mins and 3 deaths = 300 points)
- the lowest score AND 0 deaths takes first place in the contest standings. (this only applies if there is a tie between 2 or more players who share a 0 death total)
AF:
- Also in regards to timing if either player needs to go AFK then the timer is stopped and both players must cease action immediately (keeping in mind that if the contestant is fighting and is unable to stop they must finish off all monsters causing them immediate danger and move to a safe location until the AFK person returns).
Extra challenges
- Apart of the challenge i may from time to time throw a sidewinder in your direction i.e.: shield bump enemies closer to you, place objects in inconvenient places and anything else that may come to mind. This is to test problem solving and quick thinking abilities.
Last word the motivation behind the creation:
- You may be wondering why I put this together. Simple: I felt this was a good opportunity to create an environment in which both I and the contestant can learn new and strengthen old skills.
PRIZES!!
If the challenge participant is successful in completing the challenge they will be given a 1000 crystal energy reward but if they clear the challenge with NO deaths they will receive 3000 crystal energy
ALSO: THIS IS AN INVITATION ONLY EVENT THOSE WHO ARE MAILED AN INVITE IN GAME ARE THE ONLY ONES ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT.

Just finished taking part in this.
If you'd consider yourself big into racing, my recommendation is to stay far, far away. Don't waste your time. Just trust me on this one.
Host does not understand what a 'race' means, and will make every effort to not only waste your time while he idles at the Arsenal Station with the clock ticking, but will even go so far as to shield bump zombies into totems for you. Host also refuses to die when requested, even if 40+ seconds behind you. Lovely! :)
Got some pics of the ridiculousness and can post them if needed.
Point suystem is flawed. Obviously going to depth 29 gets more points.
As well as suicoding getting you double points

Interested in trying it but was wondering how the invites work. I'll try to catch you in game if you are on to ask :)

How does someone reaching D11 in 45 mins with 5 deaths score better than someone reaching D29 in 73 mins with 6 deaths?
YOu should divide it by levels done and make sure all levels completed are the same so difficulty is even

My question is this: which gate is being run? Be cause while I could easily carry someone through gloaming wildwoods, FSC notsomuch.

Doesn't using 5* weapons completely and totally nullify any difficulty you were originaly presenting?
At first I was interested and then you said 5* weapons and a 3* shield.
Downright obvious which 3* shield people would take. And 5* weapons, well...lol.

Instead of adding points how about this
Each Depth = +10 points
Each Death = -2 points
2nd death on a floor = -4
3rd death on a floor = -8
etc. etc.
Full 1-29 complete = +50 points

You mean the opposite way round, the goal is to get the least amount of points possible.
in response to what u said tom that was a run from which the contestant was forced to withdraw.

- When calculating a score and a player’s death total is 0 then the score is 0.
Plothole.
Kills the concept of a race; take your sweet ass time and make sure you don't die. You win. Take 5 horus if you need, as long as you dono't die, you win.
The other fool who raced through at 900mph, did it in three hour and never died ties with you.
The guy who did it in an hour with one death doesn't even come remotely close to either of you.
Gotta seriously fix your point system mate.
mind you my friend its not about the "points" speaking in real terms its about avoiding death while trying to get through it quickly:) also thre is a hidden reason as to why there are points:) not that u would need to know since u are not doing the challenge:)

Invite only? Why post on the forums at all then? The playerbase is much larger than the community in the forums.
This really seems like a "gimme dauntless delver and ill pay u" kind of event.

If it's about avoiding death and doing it quickly, there's no way to quantify reliably who did better than the other; there's no comparison and no competition, it's just doing a regular run in hardmode circumstances.
And if points aren't the issue, then remove all mention of them completely, because you have them listed there, but they're flawed in concept.

Egoblaster's 0-29 protons sudden death *dash* (29psdd) hall of fame
6. Each stage must be cleared *as quickly as possible*...
And watch your tongue. We keep our cusses to ourselves, you should do the same.
posted this on the forrum so all the contestants (and friends) can see the results and also to go back over the rules again rather than me having to mail it to them 278424249287429742 over

This should be moved to the Treasure Vault.

Mail stays for 30 days. 30 days. If they deleted them, shouldn't that be their fault?

Hey! I might take you up on this as well, as soon as I have time.
Also, on your document sheet can you do month/day/year It's a bit confusing. lol. I realize it hasn't been may yet, but still.... I do find it confusing. If i'm the only one then leave it but otherwise maybe change it for it to be easier. Maybe actually type the month out(abbreviations) instead of just the numbers.
the whole thing has been edited the constructive criticisms have been taken into account and improvments have been made accordingly
