What is with the recent influx of beggars?

Seriously, I've been doing my shopping in Haven today, reassessing my general loadout for upcoming missions, and I've had at least 12 people attempt to open up a trade with me, asking me for free ce and crowns. And one guy threatened to report and hack me if I didn't give him anything, and I never said a word to him.
Seriously, what's going on here?

Give them 1 crown, and tell them not to spend it all in one place.
Or you could exercise your ability to use the /ignore command.
Or you could just change havens.
And in addition to all of these, you could accept the fact that there will ALWAYS be beggars, no matter WHERE you go.

i usually put on my noob costume and start beging back, usually with /t so i dont embarras myself.
or any trolly thing i can think of.

@Whimsicality
If begging would be an official crime agains TOS or Game guidelines, and would be a valid reason to send a report and they would get banned some of them would quickly stop doing that or they wont be able to play game.
@Asukalanforum
Yeah, cus that's worked in all the other games with beggars. That's why WoW, who runs a far tighter sign-up procedure is begger/spammer free!

i usually just put in 100kcrs, around 1-2kCE, close the sk window, and go get a snack :)
i come back around 5 mins later with them begging a lot, its actually kinda fun to read. :D
i then say something along the lines of: nah, you cant have any.
walk away and laugh :D

Seems to be the same to me. They tend to come in waves.

Sheesh o.O What Havens do you guys go to? Most of the times I can be at the AH and not be bothered. Maybe it's because my costume isn't Snarby set or something like that?
@Mysticbeam: lol, wish I could see that xD

My costume is green rose regalia set with green dragon wings.
Had another guy give me death threats if I didn't give him 1k CE. Seriously people, WTF?

LOL death threats!!?????? hacking threats were at least a little credible.
Beggars seem to be getting worse. I find the occasional smashed-helm looking proto helm version with the little "cr plz" enough to put in 10 crowns from giggles.

Beggars can sometimes be a source of income, as they don't know the prices of stuff cause they're new.
One time, I asked, how many grim tokens u stockin?
I ended up with a Ghost bell for 50 Cr. Yay for me.
Chances are, a beggar knows little about market economics, and are poor for it.
So play around with them. Maybe you can turn a profit.
It really only serves them right, no?
Maybe a small increase in new players this weekend as Steam had Spiral Knights on its featured front page to advertise the Dragon Wings for OOO
Why does that seem like a run-on sentence
