Gifting Battle Packs?

If you get gifted a Battle Pack, do you lose the ability to buy one yourself later?
If you buy one first, does being gifted one later cause any inconvenient complications (other than, I presume, ending up with a second, useless costume set if you log on with the same knight right after)?

So if I try to send it to someone who already has it, I'll get an error message? Or what?

You can give it to me. You won't get an Error Message.
(Also, if you try to send the Pack to Someone who already has it, it won't Send.)
