I've been reading up on the shadow lairs and the swarm, and i can't help but notice that specters appear to be of swarm descent.

I've always had it in my mind that they are what's left of alpha squad, turned hostile by the swarm.

it's a curious storyline, and it's the only thing that drives me to keep going, so thoughts on this?
