It depends on the severity of the issue.
If you do little innocent mistakes, you may keep getting temp bans/warnings for all your life. If you do something reeeeeeeeally bad they will perma ban you instantly.
There's no golden rule to post here.

Don't get banned
If someone is trolling you then /ignore them. If they are the leader of your group then go solo. If you are the leader and they are trolling you, then kick them from your group.
Do not react in anger to trolls. Do not try to reason with them. Do not try to out troll them. That's what they want you to do. Just ignore/kick/leave them and move on with your game.

From my understandings
If you continuously repeat the offending behavior, you will get perma banned. If you make a mistake and spam, and get a temp ban, then you light someone up for trolling and get a temp ban for being unusually offensive, I cant see you being banned permanently for little things. Ideally, you learn your lesson, abide by the Terms of Service (they aren't complicated, really...) you should be fine.

your best bet is to pretend that your next ban will be permanent. BEHAVE.
