HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SPIRAL KNIGHTS!
Spiral Knights is celebrating its first anniversary with a special event! Join in on the fun now through April 10, 2012!

It's a Caketastrophe!
Visit the Haven Town Square to meet the Skylark's Head Chef, Biscotti. She will inform you of a 'situation' at hand that involves hordes of monstrous cakes known as 'Creep Cakes.' Helping her solve this 'situation' will reward you with cake helms! Features include:

- A new Prestige Mission, 'Total Caketastrophe' is available during the event
- Biscotti, Maskwell and Bulky can be found in the Haven Town Square
- Creep Cake nests can be found randomly within the Clockworks
- Participating in these events will reward you with Cake Slice tokens
- Maskwell now trades Cake Helms in exchange for Cake Slices
- Bulky now sells confetti and Cake Slice tokens

Please note, the Frosted Helm and Foiled Frosted Helm will expire, however the Prismatic Frosted Helm lasts forever!

Other Changes
- Heavy statues will now "snap" into position on pressure plates, making it much easier to place them.
- Throw-able objects such as pots and vials now have a targeting arrow.
- "Command Emotes", such as /attack and /helpme now have translations for French, German, and Spanish.
- The Elevator Pass will now be promoted when players are at an elevator and run out of energy.
- Fixed a statue exploit in Firestorm Citadel Smoldering Steps
- Fixed a bug in Firestorm Citadel Charred Court where you could get trapped by a timed door

Does that mean that an advertisement will come up trying to sell elevator passes?

I think it will just let you know that such an option is available. Much like the reminder that you ran out of energy and must purchase some from either the depot or trade to continue in the clockworks.

Disappoints me they'd put YET ANOTHER CE promo after so little time, and on the game's damn anniversary. You guys can't rely on dumb promos to work forever.

Expected something actually more interesting as a true celebration, rather than just your generic "yay cake yay hats yay confetti yay partyyyyyy" crap.

But oh well! Happy first anniversary SK.

This game would be 100x better if there were more players. And also, the playerbase in general would get better & PUGs won't be PUGGISH. If it wasn't for people playing once a day, maybe it'd more populated in the arcade lol & mission runs.

Prizes should be free...

Free prizes regardless of purchase would seem more appropriate, no? I agree that another CE promo so soon is a little disappointing. Offer it at a discount or something. Give paying players a reason to continue paying. A slice of cake and a party hat is hardly reason for me to drop $10.

Here's hoping that easter brings some much needed discounts (without dropping $30 for 20,000 CE. Give us deals for less as well. How about 40 or 50% off ALL packs. Not everyone is willing to drop $30 on a video game).

I still love the game! Just makes me sad that the anniversary is sorta... underwhelming...? Meh.

I think there is an error in the notes... it has the Divine items listed under both 4% and 2%. I assume it is just supposed to be under 2%.

Aside from that... the re-skinned Punkin King sounds good, I liked that event. The promo is standard with the one possible text error noted above. And aside from that just bug fixes. Not bad.

I'm sorry, but a 9.95 promo with 37 items contained therein a week after two successful promos is just too much. Make it one of the cheaper packs if there's gonna be that much one may get. At least tell us how much "chance" we have to get two items in a pack. Everyone should have expected a promo, but not one that contained nearly everything obtainable with this event.

Oh well, I still love y'all.

Steam is amazing for great game deals! I generally spend less than $10 on my games. Sometimes as low as $2.50! There are very few games that I spend more than $10 or $15 for. Even for Starcraft 2 I only paid $15 of my own money ($50 gift card at purchase), Portal 2 - Two Pack $18.69 USD (YES A TWO PACK. Portal 2 has sold more than 3 million copies, that's a HUGE game), Borderlands w/all expansions: ~$25 and by the way, I have played Borderlands for more than 350 hours. Those are all BIG games by BIG developers.

Steam is THE place to get cheap games.

Perhaps you can see now why I am hesitant to spend an additional $10, $20, $30 on a "free to play" game. I have only spent ~$12 so far on Spiral knights. I am MORE than happy to support this game! I enjoy it very much. But it's supposed to be free, and asking players to drop mad cash on a free game, is, for lack of a better word, annoying.

@Juances: Are you calling me a pirate? At heart, yes. For games though...? Why does buying cheap games on Steam make me a pirate? Jealous much?

If/when OOO offers discounted elevator passes, or really great deals on CE, I will be buying. Until then, no wing set or party hat (that probably expires after the event anyway) is worth the money. I have, and can get, MANY games made by big box companies that are just as good, and better, bang for my buck.

There is currently a bug with the energy depot. It will be fixed asap. Should you get stuck you can get unstuck by changing scenes such as 'Return to Haven' or entering your Guildhall.

I've just been to one down in the clockworks.

You come across a hallway leading north, just like Punkin King. The entrance is covered in piles of frosting and sprinkles.

Inside you face a number of Creeper Cakes. Once you kill the last one, they drop tokens. (In my case, it was 3 tokens.)

When i hoover above someones character in clockworks before his name a little 'shield alike' symbol shows.

But it dont show always. I have it next to my nick, i saw it above my guildie but two other guldies dont have it?

What is purpose of this silent feature made with recent update and not listed as a change?

Are you CRAZY for approving this Nick? Is he crazy? There's no way people would shell out the money to try and collect them all or even the one they want especially since it's such a slim chance to get any. I know the CE-cr economy needs to be rebalanced, but you're not going to do it like this. It should be like the explorer pack (Minus the 2 week elevator pass)

Normally I buy one or two promo packs, but I'm going to sit out this one though because of the absurd expectations of it. This really is indefensible, and you'd have to be the type of person who mindlessly defends the practices of other companies like EA to think this is a good idea of having such low percentages for drops in packs you pay 10 dollars a pop for.

There is a 100% chance of getting an accessory.

The chances of getting each accessory is broken out in the patch not as you have noted.

For example, you will get an accessory upon purchase, but the chances of getting a toasty party hat is 4%, while the chance of getting a shadow party blowout is 1%.

Cake Helm doesn't look as good as Halloween masks we got in 2011 and prismatic one looks the worst from all three (at least with my personal colour), but I still hope I will be able to get one, even though I won't have internet for most of the event (since tomorrow noon until late evening on April 9th)...

Are you sure it's a 100% chance of getting something? If you add up all of the percentages, it's over 100 which makes me think each item's "drop rate" (if you will) may be calculated individually with no guarantee of getting anything. If there is no guarantee of an item and each follows the percentages shown, you have a 66.02% chance of getting at least one accessory.

Either way, it would be nice to get some confirmation on how the promo works.

I don't see what the gripe about this update is. Accessories are for P2P (as they always have been, a la lockboxes and silver keys) and the costume masks are free for anyone who gets the tokens for 'em (a la Punkin King, which if I remember correctly was very well received at the time).

Another accessory, oh swell... Doesn't change the fact that they're still pissing the cake batter by giving us insanely low odds for getting an actual item in the CE promotion. Unless you automatically get one of the items and you can get more in the same pacakge others based on those odds, it would be a LITTLE easier to swallow. (but 34 items for 9.95 a pop if you get lucky is still crap marketing)

Say it's all in fun, but stuff like this CE promo takes the N out and just leaves us with the FU.

That would be a confusing way to put that out saying that it's a 4% chance from all the items there to drop, i must still be wearing my tinfoil hat if i didn't comprehend it or you guys are just 10x smarter than me. Isn't it RANDOM?! What 4%?!? it's the chance of getting ANYTHING, 90% is you won't get any of these accessories. Looks like they want to make these items super rare like the Groundbreaker gear. (the beta gear)
