This game is interesting, so I bought $10 of "crystal energy" already.
How should I split it to crowns and be able to buy decent swords/guns/armour while being able to use the arcade?

ok. what gear/weapons/armour should I craft?
and how far should I go?
If you want some starter cash then sell 300ce and you should be all set for tier 1, I would suggest getting a calibur recipe from kozma in bazaar and just play normally for a while to see what weapons you like. Also a alchmer line hand gun would be good too.
Another tip: Don't use your CE (crystal energy) for reviving yourself past the 5 or 10 price. Anything more and it's not worth it. For tier 1 I'd even just limit it to 5.
Well, your goal right now should be to craft a 2 star equip. You need a 2* weapon (could be a sword, bomb or gun), a 2* shield, a 2* armor, and a 2* helm to get into tier 2.
Tier 2 is where you can really rack up a lot of crowns and materials... a lot more than tier 1.
Just pick whichever 2 star equip you want... it doesn't really matter. I could sell you some for really cheap, way under cost. IGN is Green-Lantern
Step 1. Take Deckard up on his offer.
Step 2. Make a few runs at the clockworks, burning your mist energy and 100-200 more, if you like, each day for a few days. Join parties on every run you make, if you can, and try to see what they're doing in fights. Joining a guild may help here, or it may not be needed.
Step 3 As you do this, between runs, read the wiki. Look at what you just fought, and the kinds of damage it does, and so on. Consider your options for equipment from the lists there; take your time.
Step 4(a): Start considering long-term armor: If you really like running graveyards, you'll want a little shadow protection. In many other cases, you'll want elemental protection. You'll rarely want piecing-protection (I have learned this to my cost - Cobalt armor is easy to learn how to make, and it looks pretty nice, but it's not the general optimum).
Step 4(b): Start considering long-term weapons: The same kinds of things apply.
All in all, try to be fairly conservative with your energy! While it may be tempting to blow through it like a madman, you want to take the time to make the *right* plan.... Not just the *right now* plan.
Don't buy any pre-made items from the vendor. Your best bet is to craft all your gear. If I were you, I'd just head down into the clockworks right now and start finding materials for crafting... you'll also get crowns. If you want, take a few hundred of that CE and turn it into crowns (blue circle at bottom right).
