What is the bloody secret to "Merchanting" or whatever its called. In one of the other threads, Rommil admitted to having made over 10 million Cr and god knows how much Pawn has made. As someone who is completely sick and tired of clockwork grinding, I've tried the other ways. I had no luck rolling. Also had no luck crafting on my 5 alts. HOW DO YOU MAKE MILLIONS OF CR RICH PEOPLE!?

TL;DR I'm sick of FSC farming and being poor.

There are lots of ways to make money, but millions of cr? No clue. Alt craft on a large scale for UVs, turn profit into ce, follow the changes in the ce market to buy low, sell high. Be first in on the AH for promos (wings, etc)... I imagine that if you were really careful you would eventually have enough resources at your disposal, whether in cr or ce, to make rolling UVs--2s and 3s--profitable, especially now that you can keep the good stuff as you roll multiples.

Making money is actually not

Making money is actually not that hard, it just takes a lot of patience and some luck. All one has to do is buy low and sell high.
- First you need to monitor a particular market (too many niches to monitor them all, focus on Wolver armor for instance) and pay attention to trends and how much certain UVs go for.
- Then when you feel like you know the current market and see something that is a deal you buy it and then sell it to someone for a marked up price.
- It's better to sell on the bazaar; since you can have a time limit over 2 days, don't really have to be that committed to selling it and most importantly you don't need to pay the 10% fee...though the AH does have more exposure as not everyone checks the forums.
- I've found things sell better and for higher prices on the weekends as that's when more players log on.
- When CE promos happen people go nuts and are willing to spend more for items than they're truly worth. Pick one up for cheap and then you can resell to an impatient player or just hold onto it for a couple of months and sell for an inflated rate.
- The market changes when new patches/promos happen and that's also a great time to take advantage of the rest of the players who haven't caught up to the new trends yet. Most players follow what others are doing and therefore are naturally lagging the market. The people willing to be bold are the ones who can make a lot of money.
- An example is when the prismatic wings came out I bought a couple for 300K crowns and resold for 600K crowns or more to other people. That's a quick 600K crowns profit from 2 sales.
- When profit is made don't waste it on UV rolls and accessories, build up your bank roll so you can turn over more inventory and have higher profit.
- Only buy CE when there's a promo. You can resell the item and basically get twice the CE that you paid for.

I personally don't enjoy doing this anymore as I'm rich enough and hate standing around the AH monitoring prices and brokering deals. I enjoy running the clockworks these days. Good luck future merchants!

If I'm no mistaken, recipe

If I'm no mistaken, recipe censoring got screwed over. Previously, you could make revenue on a logistic scale with recipe selling. Revenues started low, increase exponentially, and eventually level off. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work though.

Here's the best way I know of:

Creat an account from the website, and then one from steam as well. Craft magic hoods or something popular like that, hope for a decent UV, and sell at lower than the lowest buy price at AH if UV-less.

Alternatively, you could test your luck, and Punch your stuff a few times. I got lucky with pinch and got a flourish ASI VH, and sold it for 16k. NEVER do the "oh just one more punch;" you will lose

The AH is so stupid in this

The AH is so stupid in this game I swear. Risking crowns to make 5k more? And majority of those times it doesn't sell & you nd up loosing like 1 or 2k due to the listing fee... Even if it does sell you end up having to loose money due to even more freaking fees.

Beta Patches: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/57

ugh.. obviously these devs need an accountant or someone who knows of business to help them run this game better. Just to balance the game out they have to do some of the stupidest economy ideas I've ever seen. If everything made decent profit in the game from missions & arcade & bosses then you know, we wouldn't have to bee running FSC all the sh@#$ time. I was hoping to see if I can make crowns from crafting but it's just not worth it the way this game works outside of it's game play.

The game is trying to base US $$ with crowns here. But look @ those fracking featured auctions.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again.

Its rather comical. Anyone who wants to be rich has this assumption that all the rich people must have spent real money to get there.

All the rich players cringe at the thought of spending real money on the game. Such a waste. Why would i spend 20 bucks for 7500 ce? When i can easily and routinely make 7500 ce in game without spending a dime.

I will say, that my initial investment of real world dollars did allow me to expedite the pace at which i made crowns.

turn one dollar into two. two dollars into four. four dollars into eight. eight dollars into 16. The more you have the quicker it grows.

i think

even the game did go pay to play, it'd have to do so in such a way that maintained the ce/crowns market, or it'd completely alter the game in such away that its not even spiral knights anymore.

like a pay to play system that allowed early access to new content (that becomes public content after X number of wks or months) while still maintaining the balance of trying to juggle ce and crowns.

--and i'm not in favor of it going pay to play either. I like it as a free to play game. And i personally do not feel like there is nearly enough content to warrant pay to play. Since by the time you get to the end of the game (as its currently constituted) there is decent replay value, but it quickly fades, and you are left with very little to do. Its as much a chat system as anything for me now.

Now, i wouldn't mind a p2p model if they had an onslaught of new content. My proposed business model for SK P2P

monthly subscription @ 3.99.
Free Elevator pass for the month
Unlimited access to the new content

After the month is up, the new dungeon becomes free to play for all. And there is ANOTHER new dungeon that is pay to play.
***shadow keys allow non paid accounts 1 time entry into the locked content.

In this way, you'd pay a subscription to get early access to new content. Free to play players would not be locked out of the new content. They would get it free after the month, and they could access it with shadow keys in the meantime.

And, they could then make shadow liars no-longer need a key.

but this only works if they were committed to continuous new content.
They would also have to make the gear (weapons and armors) bound (like they did with war hammer and dark retribution) so as to keep a competitive balance. and not let paid players get a huge leg up in crafting and reselling weapons that the F2P players didn't have access to.

If the game went P2P there

If the game went P2P there wouldn't be a need for a CE market & energy period. We have elevator passes, OOOs can work around with that lore.

F2P games you end up paying for more than a P2P subscription one. The stuff may be cheap but they just add too much sh@#$ that is needed to exceed a little above the average player.

I'm sure the economy in profit will HAVE TO FREAKING CHANGE because profit in this game is just beyond hypocritical. It says no grinding but guess what? I'M ALWAYS IN STUPID FSC BECAUSE I WANT THE MOST PAYOUT & WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYONE ELSE IN OTHER MISSION RUNS & IN THE ARCADE?

I'm not paying to play alone in this game OOOs, make profit better so that players will do different things rather than just FSC or RJ. Arcade, other mission runs idk just something to get their arszes out of FSC so I can do 4 man hp runs. I'm paying for the fun of the challenge of this game, not for the reasons these shrews are which is profit, soloing to gets mats to sell in AH, & just complete non-socializing in this game. SK's community is becoming a piece of sh@#$ just like Blizzard's.

Bild des Benutzers Rommil

you need ce for more than

elevators. thus my suggestion above. it keeps the energy system in place and spinning along, gives incentive to buy a subscription, and doesn't poo poo on f2p players.

@ RommilRommil listen

@ Rommil

Rommil listen friend, if SK went P2P, there wouldn't be a need to have to buy energy. What I mean is that if SK went subscription P2P, energy would always be with us, everything would be craftable. I'm paying OOOs 10$ a month to have everything in the game be free to use for me.

No gear binding, no energy/CE market issues, 10$ a month for me to get every access of this game. Economy will sure change, under-valued items won't be under-valued anymore. The game in economy will flourish greatly & people will gtf out of FSC.

I'm selling 5* gear that never binds even if i wear it. I'm making mulaa $$$ so now let me go enjoy my arsze in a random party run or with mah friends in other content of this game. The T3 Arcade is waiting for me.

yes. no.

@Kitty,

i see what you are saying. And you are right. And you are wrong.

You are wrong if: They instituted a p2p model like i suggested. In my example, the game would be p2p and you'd be paying for early access to new content, while not changing the CE usage model. (yes you'd get an elevator pass, but CE is still in game currency. used to craft, and used to buy gear. So if they used this model, then you are wrong.

You are right if: They make it p2p and you no longer have ce? In this scenario it would have to be pay 2 play only (no free component). I don't see how you could have a free to play player base (using ce and mist) and a pay 2 play (who either don't have ce or have infinite ce that is unsellable or untradable--or a p2p could just give infinite ce to a newb). Especially since CE is currency, far more treasured than crowns.

So yes and no. They could make it pay to play in any number of various proposed models. And depending on how the structure it, CE would lose value, gain value, or stay the same. They could structure it (like my suggestion) so that CE and crowns kept the exact same place they do now. They could do like you are intimating and completely remove ce from the game.

It all depends on how they implement it. So, my friend, you cannot unequivocally say " there wouldn't be a need to have to buy energy. What I mean is that if SK went subscription P2P, energy would always be with us, everything would be craftable. I'm paying OOOs 10$ a month to have everything in the game be free to use for me."

It all depends on how they implemented such a system. Right. And i don't see how your scenario can work, unless its 100% p2p, no longer any sort of f2p option available.
