Since Three Rings are generally fairly quiet about Spiral Spy and other things relating to looking into the code, it is sometimes quite risky to talk about them on the forums. From the mod edits and ingame warnings I have recieved, I will assemble a small list of rules to aid you in what is okay and what isn't regarding posting things on the forums. (if I've got something wrong please feel free to correct me)
Do Not:
- Post Spiral Spy images of unreleased content, as in, content that has not been seen ingame at any point in time. You may post Spiral Spy images provided there is an ingame screenshot of it, even if that screenshot is outdated provided the model has not been altered since the screenshot. By the same means, you may not attempt to describe unreleased content on the forums. Only a name is permitted.
This excludes instances where players swap files to obtain "ingame images". Moderaters are unlikely to take to file swapping lightly.
I am unsure of the direct limitations of this: Are we allowed to show content displayed only in the release trailers? - Name file paths for any file/folder in the Spiral Knights directory. You may provide the file path TO the Spiral Knights directory, but no further than that.
- Provide a link to any unobfuscated code, file (encrypted or not) or folder in the Spiral Knights directory. This excludes youtube videos featuring the Spiral Knight's soundtrack.
- Mention any line of code. You may still post the name of unreleased equipment or code name of existing items, but not any call names for them. Data from the code may be used if has been viewed by a regular player before, in the same manner as the first point. For example, if a certain piece of equipment was unobtainable by the poster (for instance, if it was from the preview event, or a piece of equipment missing a page from the wiki) then they would be permitted to post it's Description from the code, provided it had been viewed by another player.
