shield uv question

ik this has been asked many times but since im still not convinced yet, some ppl says it stacks up while some says it doesnt.

ok if i had a Fire max UV owlite shield, will the UV stack up to the shield's status res itself? since that shield already has a full bar of fire res, i know armour pieces the ber only shows the visible amout of res you hav, such as ancient plate set has higher normal res then volcanic plate set but the normal bars both show full.

so i just want a yes/no and some brief explanation, ill prefer some1 who tested.
is fire/shock max a wasted UV on owlite shield?
Stun max for ancient plate shield?
normal max for volcanic plate shield?

are those uvs simply wasted or they do stack up?

The stats on most items are

The stats on most items are unknown, due to no numbering system. While it is theoretically possible the UVs might make a difference, I don't think it would be noticeable.

Move this thread to the arsenal xD

I've got a fire UV on my GOS. I haven't noticed a difference
but I've never really tested it or paid much attention anyways.
It's only a medium UV so that might be why I haven't seen anything.

You would think that if these UVs were useless, Three Rings would
let us know.

There was a thread not too long ago that discussed this, but I couldn't find it.

I don't believe the

I don't believe the resistance bars "max out," but I could be wrong about that. What I do know for certain is that on shields that already have Fire resist, a Fire UV will not provide much benefit, if any. Most fire sources deal Elemental, and just add Fire as a side effect (like Shadow Fire tiles and Fire Grates). Only against sources that deal ONLY Fire and no actual damage (like Vanaduke's Fire Snakes and a Slag Walker's breath attacks) will it provide any benefit. However, defense UV's will provide benefit, as long as they're being used against the proper damage source, even if they're stacked. Effectively, resistance UV's on shields are wasted (as in most cases, your shield will already be resistant enough, or you simply won't encounter pure status sources commonly), defense UV's are not.

Eventually I'll get around to recording detailed shield data, but for now, all I have is what my basic shield testing in FSC has shown me.

So, to answer your three original questions...

"is fire/shock max a wasted UV on owlite shield?"
Yes.

"Stun max for ancient plate shield?"
Yes.

"normal max for volcanic plate shield?"
No, not wasted.

We dont even know how defenses and statuses work. I mean a fire mosnter doesnt just burn you every time you get hit, they only have a chance to do it.
How does that translate to shielding?
