Introduction: What and Why
For a while now, I have wanted to see guilds implemented in a way that encourages competitive behavior on such a scale that a sense of prestige can be earned for that guild. It wasn't long until I got involved in Lockdown and Guild Lockdown. It provided everything that I was looking for, or so I thought. I soon realized the currently, Lockdown in general was very...limited. So, I decide to attempt to start up the Spiral Custom Games (SCG). The intent of the (SCG) is to invoke a competitive spirit between guilds in as wide of an array of skills as possible through weekly competitions. This would in turn, allow other guilds to shine in specific classes, tiers, weapons, ect. in both Lockdown and The Clockworks.
TL:DR - A weekly guild vs guild competition meant to test all aspects of a guild in clockworks and lockdown.
My thoughts so far...
So I have already planned out a few things. Ill try to list them as efficiently as possible, and if need be, I clarify with latter post.
When: Every weekend. Time based off common timezone of competing guilds
What: A tournament for both Clockworks and Lockdown. Will usually have similar theme or rules. 1 tourny for Lockdown, 1 Tourny for Clockworks each gathering
Themes: Usually a specific set of gear such as proto only or guns only.
Rules: Specific rules or conditions for a game such as Middle point capture only or timed runs. Both rules and themes decided by Host/champion and decided by vote from competing guilds
Host: Hopefully a co-host by 2 major, knowledgeable and trusted guilds who are pretty active, and possibly Abstractivity (my guild, but havn't really talked to GM lately /bad planning). Hosts would basically organize it by since they would attend regularly.
Champion: Winner of previous event. Decides on next events (but must be different)
Entrance: Guilds wanting to compete would have to sign up a week before. For each player must submit 500cr (maybe, see concerns) which would be added to the "pot" and given to the winner of the tourny.
That's pretty much the basics... there are somethings that need to be worked out before a can post a complete overview of how things would work. The main discussion is below.
Why did you make this thread?
In order to achieve something consistent and effective, there needs to be a bit of planning. There are some specific Issues I want to discuss with everyone, even if they won't be participating. Things I need to know:
What would be the player base of this? Are there any guilds that know they would like to participate? There is no point in setting this up if no one participates. I imagine we need about 4 guilds to really have a decent competition.
Are there problem with the overall plan? Perhaps some things that I overlooked?
Concerning the "pot" or prize, I was hoping to create an account that ALL host guild Guild Masters have access to. Money would be sent to that account, and distributed accordingly. Problem is, that might be against the rules. Would it be wiser to designate a specific person? Or perhaps it would be better to scrap the pot/entrance fee all together?
For host guilds, Which guilds (that are well respected) are willing to be a host?
Are things too complicated? Should it just be a friendly gathering of guilds?
What Timezone approximation would be appropriate for as many people possible?
I would really like to get this thing rolling but as you can see there are a lot of things that need to get straightened out. Any help, discussion, or even criticism of the idea is appreciated.
Soooo can I just assume that this is an impractical idea. Does no one have an opinion on this what so ever, even if its negative.... Maybe i did make it too complicated
