Also, should I make it out of cardboard or cloth and some solid support? Cardboard might give me a closer look to how it looks in-game, but it be kind of cruel.

Hmm... if you can get the thing that tailors put into shirt collars. Those stiff white mesh thing, I forgot what they're called as. They would be great as support, I think.
That or the plastic matrices that some fursuiter use.
