So I met this noob...
...Girl decked out in Proto Gear in Haven today. Name not being mentioned, said girl said she was selling a 5* sword for 10Kcr. Conditions?
"But u have to giv me the 10000cr first or u might steal it from me."
Things wrong with her argument:
1) She was an Apprentice in Protogear. Why would she be selling a 5* piece of gear when it looked like she needed one?
2) If she DID have a 5* weapon, she'd know that 5* weapons cost more than 100K typically (I don't know a closer number, I don't buy 5* gear)
3) If she managed to get a 5* weapon through any means, she'd know the trading system only allows theft when one of the participants presses 'Confirm' prematurely.
4) When asked for any proof (Inspect on, trade-without-confirm etc), we were declined. 'We' being any other player within twenty paces.
5) One of the said people then offered to buy her supposed 5* sword. She refused to accept his trade.
When I told her that she was probably a scammer, and someone else mentioned t was a bannable offense, she told me: "u scam...youre life is a scam"
Moral of the story? Not all scammers are realistic.
We lolled about it for the next ten minutes over how fail the scam was. I'm not joking, it was plainly obvious she didn't have what she claimed to have.

Heh. Speaking of noob scammers..
I was on my alt once (in proto armour but with 2* gear) and some guy (2* or less, I forget) obviously thinking I was a noob said he'd sell me the best sword in the game for 10k cr.
"Oh yes? And which sword would that be?" I asked.
His reply? "Hot Edge."
I said, "Pfft." At which point he ran away. xD
But really, if I was noob enough to believe that I don't think I would even have 10k cr on me.

A con once scammed me as I still was naive. But now I know how it feels to be the scammer of the new employees. It's hilarious. And by the way- take my advice. Whenever tries to apparently scam you, take our your flaming trident and vaporize him as he speaks and curse his ashes that he may be tortured in his afterlife. Then draw a happy face on them.

Hay, Hot Edge is best edge. ... I wouldn't pay 10k for it, though. x)
I think the silliest scam I've seen myself (that I can remember) has been someone shouting about selling a shadow key for 20k. Not really all that interesting.

I have almost NEVER had a scam type person come up to me. I've had a beggar about 3 times or so, but no scam person. If I did, I don't remember it. Also, what is with this thing of noobs selling things to newbs for prices that the newbs can't even cover?
Oo
/think How does he know my alter-ego!?!
/think This is bad...
I encountered worse.
