I was looking through the forums and I noticed that there is an age limit surprisingly. You have to be at least 13 to play the game. But anyways my point being, do you think spiral knights is cute? I mean my first impression is that its cute. Like what are your first impressions?

Don't judge me or anything e.e I'm a 21 year old asian male who likes cute stuff. But what do you think the target audience is for spiral knights? Don't you think a game like this (especially some of the well known sega games, such as sonic) have a wide audience of children playing those games.

I guess this is what I would like to discuss in this opening post:
- first impressions
- audience of spiral knights
- what demographic are you?

Spiral Knights is a pretty cute game. I prefer my graphics in games to be cute and colorful since it makes everything more appealing to look at for me. The push in general gaming that realism is good has never sat well with me since I think stylized better than realistic. I like to tease guys sometimes and say that Spiral is a girly game since it's all cute and has dressup, which has a grain of truth to it. In general I find that the cuter the game, the higher percentage of female players.

I don't associate cute with "this game is made for children" by any stretch of the imagination. While Spiral is pretty kid-friendly, I don't feel like that's the goal of the design so much as just a general side effect. The 13 year age limit is just generally pervasive since people will swear and take advantage of others on any game like this.

I'm 23 and female. The colors and cuteness are definitely what drew me in early on.

I love this game's art style!

I love this game's art style! It really fits the feel of the game well.

21-year-old male here, by the way.

As far as the age restriction, that's because of COPPA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children's_Online_Privacy_Protection_Act

Pretty much all the monsters are cute, or at least not terrifying. The Wolvers look like fluffy little puppies and make about the same noise my dog does when he needs to use the bathroom. Zombies are more the cartoonish variety than shambling, brain-eating creatures of the Left 4 Dead variety. As for Giant Lichen Colonies, they make cute pets. And Love Puppies are just adawwwable.

I'm 19. Make of that what you will.

Be grateful of the age limit.
We don't get THAT many 10yr olds running around.

Anyway Its pretty nice looking, and it has that LoZ feel to it, but still quite unique. I can't say anything has actually made me jump out of my seat in this game in fear, except for during the Arkus mission with the first cutscene and the camera instantly flashes onto a close up of him. Wasn't expecting it lol.

15 here if that affects anything.

Xylka, it has a "OH GOD ALMOST ALL MY CHILDHOOD IS PRESENT oh and with a bit of gambling and stupid on it" feel.
