Screencaps

I use Camstudio Recorder for most of my SK recording. Doesn't really lag you at all, but for some computers you have to be sure to change it to "Record SWF" and never press "minimize" because if not it'll disable the Recorder until you reset the computer. Other than that, I have had no problems with it.

Because Fraps records unencoded video. Helps make sure that it uses as little processing power while recording as possible. As a trade-off, you have freaking massive file sizes, since it just dumps everything to disk. So you gotta compress it yourself after recording. Most people end up doing it using their favorite video editing software, since they're gonna edit the video anyway.

Compress it by dropping the

Compress it by dropping the video into Windows Movie Maker or some other program, and just saving the video again into whatever format you want.

And I had problems with Camstudio as well. I tried recording in full screen and instead got a seizure inducing flashing green and white screen.

But yeah, stick to Fraps if that's what you like. I mean you already paid for it so might as well use it.

Thats about it though. And so you know, after compressing the video files, my 1hour 45 min UFSC full run turned from 25GB down to only 1GB or less.

When i use fraps videos have

When i use fraps videos have 4GB since only when there is some kind of error and fraps is unable to finish video.

Also i think 4gb is maximum size of one video file it can record so if your video is really long it can reach that size.

Good program to compress videos is Format Factory, its freeware and there is lot of tutorials around net how to use it.

My fraps folder: http://i.imgur.com/BZZj9.png (300 Gb FTW! And even then i have about 50gb more fraps vids in another ._.)

To answer your question, all Fraps videos cap at 4gb (3.95 to be exact) and it starts on a new video but you dont loose any content. However when you edit your videos you will have to join your individual clips. For example my recent vanaduke video i had to join 2-3 clips however thats not visible in the final results as i didnt loose even a single frame from Fraps splitting up the video)

Thats why compressing tool is a must. With Format Factory i can compress 264MB video to about 4,17 MB (No sound, 1024x600 23.976FPS) without noticeable quality loss.

I remember when editing my Jelleh King (Inb4 Larry) video.

Before movie maker: A bit more than 10gb
After movie maker: 1.24gb

Cut down to a 10th of the original size with background music added as well as other minor edits.
