Is everyone happy with this spectate option? I know it has a few pluses and people who don't do lockdown can come creep on pro players whenever they wish..
I personally hate it, it takes away my right of privacy.. I get PMs all the time wen I die or when I kill people 5 on 1, either way I dont like it.
I also find that I am having incredible lag since the spectate option came out.
I personally think the cons outweighs the pros. I understand that the non/retired LDers (and even the LDers with super-comps) will not side with me on this but I would personally like this spectate thing gone asap..
Do u guys hav any input on this? how u guys feel?
The New Spectate option
I'm fine with the spectate option, as a feature, but the lag is the part I don't enjoy. But I came up with a solution that might remove the lag.
All matches are recorded, then people spectate the matches (after they have finished) that have been recorded and are played back. This also removes people spying on the opposite team and telling their friends/guild what is going on.
Right of privacy? lol
You're in an open space.
With that logic... oh look, by posting I can see your name and message you too! We're not invading your privacy, you personally chose to share it.
Pros:
good time killer when your mist is low, make recording match easier.
Cons:
privacy issue.
I think this feature is more like an icing on the cake. It will be an interesting twist if the audience can make bets on the outcome of the match.
Yes I agree with wat bacon says, if that does minimize the lag, so if people really want to see how someone does, then they hav to take time watching past videos instead of creeping on pro players whenever they wish.
Also I play LD for myself, I like to show off at the end of the match wen the dmg scores hav been posted, NOT people judging every move I make, it definitely is taking away my privacy.
I personally think it's fine as long as spectators are not allowed to PM the players.
lag hasn't really been a problem for me actually. or maybe playing on a old computer just gets me used to it.
It is a lot of fun, but a lot of the trade secrets are coming out.
Also the amounts of tells I'm getting mid game is a little bit overwhelming, don't mind when they are after the game but when 5+ people are in the same time sending you tells during the game it gets to be too much.
Showing our knowledge of LD to less experienced players allows them to have the chance to become better thus creating better matches for the whole community in the long run. Personally I've only ever watched guildies play and more or less congratulated them on winning or encouraged them to play again when they lose along with giving them tips.
I don't get lag when there are spectators, at least I don't believe I do, if I do I don't notice it.... But if it's an issue it should be dealt with ASAP.
In all honesty you never had a 'right of privacy' in LD before because your opponents could see your strategy and relay it to other people, the only difference now is that people can see it first hand. I guess you could go Recon if you don't like it though. It's not a bad class once you learn how to use it.

I would prefer if OOO created another free roaming view to enable players to freely roam the map to see every players at every corners of the map
You are playing on someone else's property (the server) so therefore you have no right to privacy. However, you do have the right to stop playing.
I like it, but it's a shame I can't see recon gunners in Spectator Mode, because I'm a recon gunner myself and I'd like to see if they have some sort of an interesting strategy to add to my recon strategy repertoire.
Likewise I'd like that people watch me and see how I handle against 2 skolver clones with a cloak and 2 guns, so that I make them interested in this very underrated "class".
A determent I have seen from the spectate addition to the game is, other players in the guild watching a match and giving intell to the members of said guild playing a match. I guess it could be done with friends and wispers as well.
It's not that big of a deal. However, it does change things.
That is all.
I'm really liking it, great for getting tips... However, pain in the backside trying to follow Recons. I can see why they don't let you watch (/tells to players when a cloaked Recon approaches) but it'd be neat if you could- maybe disable chat while spectating? Bleh probably not worth the trouble.
I like it because it allow me to spy on pros (*v v*), but I wish they add a betting system or allow the spectator to trow cake or something :3
SHARE WHAT YOU KNOW
One of the Core Rules of good Netiquette means sharing what you know.
This idea that when you get good at something you should refuse to tell others, "so they can figure it out for themselves," is selfish and ridiculous.
With a very few exceptions, we ALL pick up a little here and a little there from more experienced players, and we figure things out for ourselves. Getting really good at LockDown is a skill that is mostly behind closed doors from the rest of the game. If somebody does not clue you in, it takes a while to figure it out. Either way, you get paid in K-coins.
Spectating the matches is like watching sports on television. You still have to understand what you are looking at to make use of the information. If some players are clever enough to learn more quickly from watching, then you will have better competition and thus fewer one sided matches. That is to the good.
DISABLE SPECTATOR CHAT WITH PARTICIPANTS
I am in favor of disabling chat wth the player entirely, even in between matches. If you know them, then they are already on your list. If not, then you should leave them alone.
This is not a privacy issue. It is a matter of common courtesy. Would you like strangers yelling unsolicited comments at you between classes, or during half time of a big game? Well some of you might, but most would not and further would not approve of those who would. Watching a game is one thing, anonymous people randomly talking to the players is something else entirely.
"Is everyone happy with this spectate option?"
Yes! Stalker Canozo Agrees.
