What is your opinion on Unity? (The Guild)

I've been curious for a while now as to what people think of the guild. Try to keep it clean. :F lol. I don't mind if you got anything bad to say, will probably help me/us make some improvements if any are needed (which I am sure there are.) Try not to say people's names too (especially in a bad way), I'd rather this not turn into a thread where people wanna tear each other's throats out. Only want opinions, good or bad.

Unfortunatly

I doubt you'll get serious answers. But to me unity is pretty prestigious like a person sees, oh that person is from unity, he must be good! I wanted to be in it but fell in love with mine, never attempted soloing vanaduke either, one of the requirements..

In my mind, Unity is *up

In my mind, Unity is *up there* with the other old and prestigious guilds. Unity lost a considerable amount of it's previous stature after (seemingly) beginning to crumble some months ago. It's nice to see it back and running, the game needs more well-organized guilds.

Hey, it's one of the few major '11 guilds left. That counts for something.

Despite my tendencies to troll, this is on a rather serious note

Ahh, Unity. a guild i used to see as "home." I remember, it used to have all the big names in this game, like Rommil, Pawn, Jade-Rabbit, or even, Cootiecakes. We prospered as one, farmed vanaduke, and struggled at lockdown, and darn well took pride in it. I would be in haven and be proud that was written under my name. but now, whenever i see under someones name, i laugh to myself. Honestly, Vokster, it all went downhill. Heron is inactive, along with Ish and blanky. Cootie left, Rommil and Pawn are gone, and 4 of the most talkative officers are in eos (manifest destiny), and it seems like you guys are still doing fine, but admit it, its not the same. i miss the old days, when we had like 70% control over the ce market and auction house.

Hi, Vokster

My, aren't you the brave Guild Master to ask such a question!

My impression of Unity is that it's one of the strongest guilds. You are a very active and highly skilled player, so I expect your guild will reflect that somewhat. I've always greatly admired Rommil as my big bro, so by extension I admired his guild.

No guild is of that size and duration is going to be drama free. And it's not necessarily a bad thing for players to change guilds on occasion since it helps them to get to know more people.

Thank you for your videos and the times you have personally accompanied Leo and me on shadow lair runs.

Keep up the good work!

I'm going to make a related thread now. :)

Unity was a nice guild to be in. It was fun chilling with people that I friended before I got into the guild and with new people I haven't had much contact with. You guys are pretty much RoC #2 in my perspective, except the fact that RoC is filled with people from EU. RoC will always be my number 1 guild in every way. No other guild can compete with them (in my view). Nevertheless, Unity is a fun outgoing guild. I feel sad for the famous people in Unity that left the guild or left the game, but you guys are still thriving and thats always good to see.

What makes a guild a good guild?
I believe a good guild is a guild with good qualities, such as being welcome, talkative, joking around, etc. I also think a good guild can grab some of the younger/inexperienced SK players and help them rank up, become more skilled, and in the end have them fight with your guild in Guild LD. But that takes a lot of effort, which is hard to do anyways.

Do I smell like roses?
No Vok, you smell like cake.

@Lord-Ganondorf Yeah, things changed a lot. But hey, nothing stays the same right? We've had to adapt and change to keep the guild going. People have left, and people have come. It's just how it is, we're still going strong that's all that matters.

@Mawashimono Thanks for the kind words. ^^

@Zaderules Thank you for that, totally agree with what makes a good guild. At one point when our members were getting low, we actually opened the guild up for 5* people (as you may have known), they didn't have to complete a FSC test, just be 5* and have a good attitude as in wanting to learn, friendly, etc. By doing this, we got more members and decided to train up these people in FSC so that they'd be good enough for Unity AND be in the guild as they do this. Their test to be a member was to complete our test run. It was a great way to bring some people in fast, now we're training for GvG. Gotta keep expanding as a guild, staying the same won't get it anywhere. Adapt and Change, but keep the core essence of the guild in place as it should be.

Hi guys

I just wanted to let you all know that Unity is an amazing guild. It may appear to be "crumbling" to some because our officer and GM positions change more than a lot of guilds. But this is more because we are all care-takers of our guild. When we the top ranks become inactive, as has happened from time to time, we step in favor of a more worthy leader. A delinquent leader is no leader at all.

Like when i stepped down from my GM position in favor of Hollafamer. While I was sad to leave my post, it was for the good of the guild. I loved considering myself the Mascot of Unity :P

I'd also like to state, although i think most already know this, but leaving Unity was is in no way meant to be seen as a negative reflection on the guild. If i ever come back as an active member and player of SK, i'll take up ranks back in Unity (assuming there are at least a few familiar faces left in the "Management" levels.)

[Gannon, i'm sorry your end experience was so negative upon departure. There was a lot of drama, and drama-makers, and you didn't deserve to get sucked into all that. Regardless of what you may have said or not said in private to anyone. Some people crossed the line of good-fellowship and common decency, and lost sight of the fact this is a silly game, meant for the sole purpose of fun. They took it to a personal level that they shouldn't have. And you and vexon were the collateral damage. But please don't let that one interaction color your inevitable memory of Unity. Lets remember the great times. And be happy that we maintained our friendship even after you left the guild :-]

Coots, lets not be like that :(
your time in unity was great and well-spent. Attrition is natural in every walk of life, but please don't say that your time in unity wasn't enjoyed to the fullest.

But yeah, back on topic, Unity is a guild with a great balance of mature players, friendly players, silly players, and helpful players. It was certainly a family atmosphere, and one i'd recommend for anyone 5* who wants to enrich their playing experience.

Meow about no

Well I was one of the many old Active members who migrated over to Unity when Active's GM had a case of innovation? and kicked everyone. Though seeing Holla is GM of Unity now I feel like it's kind of gone in a circle. I don't have anything against Holla he's super sexy and hot but it's kind of a wait a second... didn't we... and then... déjà vu.

Honestly I enjoyed my time in Unity. I had fun, laughed, goofed off, etc. I stood in haven and took pride in the name. It felt like my family/forever home. Working our butts off trying to be the best at LD but that didn't really work out but it was still fun. Well lots of fun but I guess the drama started to get to me, some first world problems, and overflow of test runs burned me out in my last month or two of being in the guild. It was a good time to retire I guess. I honestly felt horrible when 2 of the other officers and a few members agreed to follow me but i'm glad they did so I wasn't alone. I was happy to see the guild was still able to pull though after what I felt was some major damage to the guilds core. Though I doubt I am favored among most of the Unity members. Probably no longer welcomed back.(disagreements w/ there mascots?) But I found my new forever home in EoS and hopefully it will stay like that until I slowly fade away from SK.

I agree w/ Rom that Unity's strong point is that leaders can step down and be replaced by new ones. That is probably what kept me motivated to aim for the top b/c i knew it was possible. Though it is kind of painful watching Unity lose Cootiecakes and things just won't be the same.

Anyways today would i recommend the guild to someone? Yes and No. Yes, if you're looking for a heavy PvE guild and/or like large guilds. No if you don't like large guilds and/or are looking more for PvP.

Beware long text

Why am I getting brought into this discussion lol? Jade you were one of those people who joined after I handed over power to the other gms. Back when I quit the game. In case you didn't know I built Active and spent countless hours in haven recruiting people to my Guild. I can remember pretty much everyone I invited to Active. I also came up with the idea of the guild being for 5 star players only. Since we didn't have missions and most of Vanaduke invites came from others players, it was beneficial for 5 star players to be in the guild. Having plenty of Vanaduke boosts and being able to play with skilled people made the guild popular.

After a while some people who clearly just bought 5 star gear got into the guild. We then decided to start testing all new recruits. As skill along with 5 star gear remained our primary focus. As we built up I became friends with a kid name kryios, who I always tried to recruit to Active. He wouldn't join because he like the guild he was in. Known as Corps meltdown. I offered the Gm(Heron) a merge into Active. Gladly he accepted and we got a lot of great players. Rommil, pawn, Oppenheimer, dirty-harry, Heron, kryios, Nitez and so on. After the merge we were capped members wise. Eventually had a list of people in line to get in.

Then i got bored with the game and left. Passed on leadership to others and gave my stuff away. Came back and guild was so different and I was a little lost. I mostly did the kicking because I was doing an activity sweep getting rid of people I knew were long gone. We didn't have (last login) so it was hard to know who played and who didn't. I decided to kick the people I didn't know, and the people I knew that had stopped playing. Kicked roughly about 70 members. Started inviting people back, who were messaging the remaining people I didn't kick, (why were they were kicked). Everything was going good then suddenly heron logged in and got mad. He left and started Unity and most of the people left Active to join him. Since I was gone for about 3-4 months they knew him to be the main gm. I made a mistake and I have admitted it. I tore down the work I put in, and the work that others did. My actions was what led to Unity's creation, tho I take zero credit for the guild. It tough for a while ended up joining (Guild) ran by Magnus and Biznasty. This was about the time shadow lairs came out and I made a lot of new friends. Eventually I work things out with Unity and they accepted me back in. If I remember correctly Jade-Rabbit invited me back. Started out as a lowly recruit because no one trusted me, and I was fine with it. Being a Gm is very draining, having to deal with fights(drama),ranks, and keeping the guild active. Eventually I got more people to join Unity, passed on my knowledge(merching) to my guildmates and became an officer for my efforts.

Unity then started to suffer with major drama issues which caused players like Guun, Vawdrey, and Jade to leave. A few others also left and we were left with a big hole to fill. I didn't want the guild to collapse. In urgency I asked Rommil if he would allow me to step in as gm. He had no issue with it, much to my surprise. With Vokster, Mika, Rari, Bee, cool, lordace, norezilla, and the rest of the remaining unity members we all worked our butts off to keep the guild active. Based on what I seen the guild is flourishing again. This thread that Vokster made is probably to see whether the fruits of our labors paid off. Anyways Jade if you were wondering why I am GM in Unity the above is your answer^. Even tho I know you meant no disrespect.

@Hollafamer "This thread that Vokster made is probably to see whether the fruits of our labors paid off." Yes, somewhat. I've been hearing a lot of what I consider wrong views about Unity for a little while now, people saying its dead, etc etc. I was hoping in a way this thread would be a way to bring about a different perspective as I think a few have got the wrong impression on us lately and seem to be passing the word along.

My View of Unity:

When Created:

Cootie and Heron had to create Unity (The name is kinda lame, but what you expect from Cootiecakes she wanted something that is as "innocent" as him *yes they told me about their no-no parts*. They had to create this guild since the founder of Active went Hitler and started kicking everyone.

Over-Time:

Unity started having squabbles within noticed a few changes in ranks etc. Had a lot of players from their "core" leaving or quitting the game due to lack of having fun or drama.

Now:

Unity is not Unity they had way 2 much drama within the guild. Why do I say this? Cootiecakes one of the founders of Unity left them some of their ranked members left them as well. A few officers and such left Unity, but some re-joined back in etc. Oh, and they put the guy back in charge who well was the person they were trying to get away from. Just think this is like Unity 3.5

*I do not want to argue my point-of-view or get told I might be wrong etc. This is what I think of Unity when I see it now*

Portrait de Pookycakes
Pookycakes
Rommil: I'm not

Rommil: I'm not "Cootiefakes", I think that's Ganondorf's fake "me", although I honestly can't say I disagree with him.

I still feel like I've wasted my time in Unity but that's both due to the game itself and also a minority of people in the guild.

It has been a month since what made me leave and I still haven't changed my mind about what I would do if i ever came back.

Also, maintaining a top guild when there hasn't been any worthy gameplay content for months and months just felt so pointless to me; it's hard not to be frustrated by that.

Anyway, I still believe that most of the players in Unity are great and I'm happy to see that Vok kept everything running nicely. Everything looked fine to me when I left but the new officers' decision to get rid of the "Solo Vana requirement" really was what needed to be done to keep the guild strong and healthy.

Hopefully the new Guildhall update might make things even a bit easier. And with some luck the next update might be a decent one with a real new boss with token item rewards.

PS to Nj: I don't think anyone would argue with you, you pretty much summarized it. And the guild name didn't come from me, go drown somewhere xD

I think unity is full of sh

I think unity is full of sharp guys and respectable players within PvE, a personal favorite of mine. I'm not a PvP person either, so i know the feel. I dont judge guilds mostly, so i don't do this often. I was in Unity for a while but it was around the drama and i left since i didn't feel welcome nor di it feel like i was welcomed to the family. In its prime, it was one of the best guilds out there, but after that detrimental blow, its dwindled down to a reminder of what was and brave torch holders within the guild show the proud spirit of the original Unity.

What makes a guild a good guild?
That's simple, make it a family, not a collection of the best PvP/PvE players or people who just wanted to be in a guild. I've been in here since beta and i still hold onto that idea of a family. Some may disagree when i say this, but Guild was my favorite guild by far. It felt like a family from the time i joined in beta, my rejoining after my hiatus, and to its demise. Even in drama we didn't lash it out on others, we kept it between the one we quarreled with and ourself.
TL;DR: be a family and keep issues between you and the one you have it with. I left Unity because i wasn't welcomed due to it and didn't feel like a family.

I know my stay was short, and it was during the drama saga, but I do wish I could have been in there when it thrived.

- @Contri OMG mate, thanks! I hate you too! <3 And I'm too sucky to join your LD tournament, soz. ^_^

- We are mostly a PvE guild. This is an elegant translation for the sentence "we suck in lockdown". With a few exceptions (I am not part of), we're not so good players in lockdown: we're just average player but I am personally proud that most of us use fair weapons there. I think still we have a few people abusing polaris or auto target feature, but since we're not a big deal in lockdown, I never felt to tell em not to do it.

- Agree with Vok: I find a lot of people having a bad impression about Unity, mostly relating to "dramas". I would say that a drama it's not a negative thing. If we have drama, it means that something goes wrong and it needs to be fixed. A lot of people left - sure - but new ones came in. Why do people assume that new ones are worse than old ones? If somebody left, it's because the guild didn't fit them any longer, or they didn't fit the guild.

- Personally I've met a decent number of haters. I've heard really absurd things (starting from << you guys don't share pills in FSC >> wut?, ending with << ohh! look at that! mr. j*rk unity! >> nonsense). Other haters told me some people in unity have a bad behavior with people but so far I found accused people being kinda nice with everyone, while accusing people not giving valid exaplainations for their accusations and just putting thumbs down on our vids turning, thus, em out to be "just because it's unity".

- Aside from those little fixes, I can't tell my opinion because I'm in Unity at the moment. Personally I also had some drama: some little, some bigger. But those drops in the see can't change unity overall! We still have more than 90 funny and pve-strong members. That's cool! =)

I think to judge a guild as a

I think to judge a guild as a whole is rather silly unless it's to take each member into account individually. I am in Echo of Silence as an officer but can only do so much to influence. I can kick people when they don't fit into the guild's profile, as set up by the founding GM's, but I can't control members' actions. So to say "members of Unity are jerks" (I actually don't know most in it well enough to form an opinion) is quite ignorant and causes me to judge negatively that individual saying it. As long as those in the guild are happy with it, then that's all you really need. Others' opinions don't matter much in the world of SK, as image does in real life.
Small side thought; Njthug is a GM of EoS but for some reason his actions get lumped together with the whole guild's personality. His actions do not define me so I find it quite annoying that people seem to think so.
Though I do think that the strength of the leadership of a guild, as a whole, sets the tone for all others in it, it is not the whole picture. End rant.
