Does anybody know the backstory behind SK before you get to the rescue camp? I'm writing a screenplay based on SK and would like to have an accurate first couple of scenes aboard the Skylark or something.
Anybody know the full backstory?

It was invaded by the Morai,
And was taken over(My guess).
Then the Knights liberated the homeworld from them(ilsola).

To be honest, I don't think that we'll ever know whats going on. The devs just kind of slowly add on more and more.... its like in television series like Lost- one thing just leads to another and you gradually realize that the story is going no where. I'd suggest reading a book rather than worrying about it.
You want the lore of the game. There have been several threads on this recently, in General Discussion and New Recruits. The lore is scattered throughout the game. To discover it all, you have to talk to every NPC in the Rescue Camp and Haven, and read through the missions, and read the Echo Stones, etc. For example, one of the NPCs that you encounter before Haven explains that Haven is not as nice as where the Spiral Knights come from. And he gives a name --- something like "Isodra". A lot of the lore is on the wiki, but again scattered. To be honest, the plot of this game is just not well fleshed-out. Good luck.
