Logging into SK Client without Steam

Hey.
I'm having trouble logging into the standard non-steam client.

So what I'm trying to do is use my steam:(steam64) to login to SK without being at a workstation, or computer without steam, as I'm travelling quite a bit, and I enjoy some SK when I can. I acknowledge the requirement of the Steam client running at the same time in order to login, but I can't seem to adapt it for a portable environment (such as on a USB stick), so I'm wondering if anyone's willing to help me here.

>When Steam is not running:
The steam:(steam64) prefix to login will not work, even with the correct password.
Normal logins with my original account will bounce me off and tell me to use Steam.

>When Steam is running:
The steam: prefix works, and allows me to login with my default password.
Normal login is a no-no.

Again, adapting steam to a USB stick is providing me with no results, and I don't have the option of installing it on over 5 computers, wether it may be due to age, or administrative controls. I'm still experimenting with this, so please let me know if there are any additional steps I can take in order to get this working.
