I have a quite powerful system and for some reason Spiral Knights STILL tends to run on low fps. My GPU is using only 13-21% of it's full potential for some reason. Causing me to have dips in frames per second in some situations. (lots of enemies or fire traps)
Processor:
- Intel 2600k @3.8Ghz
Videocard:
- GTX 570 HD
Ram:
- 16GB 1333Mhz
Storage:
- 2x 1TB HDD
Running Spiral Knights (Steam) with 64-bit Java and tweaked out to use multi core and has 3GB ram allocated. I used fraps to check my framerate and MSI Afterburner to check my GPU Usage.
In games like Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter the GPU usage goes all the way to 90-100% running at a high framerate (above 80). But in Spiral Knights when I'm in a full Haven the GPU usage was only 13% and my framerate was around 50-60 and sometimes even dropping to 10. Why is this?!? At some times it manages to reach 50% but that doesn't happen often =_=.
Settings are:
High settings + Render Effects on + 4x AA (higher AA not possible because of the gpu usage bottlenecking my performance)
Vertical Sync is off, Also off in nVidia control panel. In the control panel java is also set up to run at max performance and FXAA is enabled.
EDIT: So I found out my GPU runs at 100% usage when I use 16x AA running around 100fps but it goes ALL THE WAY DOWN to 20 when I am near fire traps. Then I tried 8x AA and GPU usage is 50% running around 100fps, near fire traps the usage goes all the way to 100% each time the fire traps activate and making my frames drop to 50 per second.

I have minimum settings, basically graphics are around the same...
