We'ki slipped the bronze bolt into his pocket. His furry fingers brushed across the soft, fine linen, but were soon interrupted by the smooth metal surface of the bolt. He stood up and scratched his thigh. We'ki grabbed his Thwack Hammer from its weapon rack and rushed out of his quarters to get ready for the day ahead, working for the Colony. The young gremlin dashed down a long hallway but tripped on a loose cable on the way. As he fell to the floor, his beloved bolt was thrown from his pocket. We'ki hurriedly jumped up and returned to running down the hall.
The bolt rolled down the slanted hall, eventually falling through a crack in the floor. It bounced back and forth against huge turning gears before coming to a rest at the bottom of a dark, abandoned corridor.
But wait!
A door opened and a lean gremlin stepped through the doorway. It took out two wands, red and blue, and started working on a gear that had stopped moving. After an hour or so, the knocker stepped away from the gear and looked it over. It seemed to be pleased, and turned to leave.
But wait!
It looked down and saw the bronze bolt lying on the cold floor.
"A bronze bolt means good luck!" it chuckled as it slipped the bolt into its pocket. It had to hurry to its job; at a Deconstruction Zone. It scampered off, but this time the bolt didn't fall out of a pocket. In a few moments, the gremlin stood in the Deconstruction Zone, waiting for a band of knights to come, as the watchman had spotted one.
And the knights came, but they overpowered the twenty or so gremlins trying to stop them from advancing further. A knight clad in divinity sped up to the knocker and drove its holy sword into the gremlin. The bolt fell out of its pocket as it fell. It rolled and rolled until a gremlin mortafire grabbed it from the ground.
"Ah! Just what I needed!" it proclaimed as it slipped the bolt into an inanimate lumber's body. The lumber roared to life and started moving towards the incoming knights.
"Kill it!" one of them shouted. The knight raced towards the lumber, but the lumber responded by smashing its tree-like fist into the knight's head. The knight was dead.
"No!" the divine knight screamed. It hurried towards the lumber, but before it could raise its sword, the bronze bolt slipped out of its slot and the lumber fell to pieces. "Lucky bronze bolt," it said as it tossed the metal piece into its backpack.
The knights fought the gremlins in the area until they were all dead. They wiped sweat from their foreheads.
"Let's go up to Haven," one suggested. They stepped onto the elevator and rode up. Once on the surface, they went their separate ways. The divine knight strode over to a tall stranger.
"Hello Warnel," the knight smiled.
"Welcome back to Haven, Daniel," Warnel the stranger replied. "Be careful not to step on any of the snipes."
Daniel grinned, "I wasn't planning on it."
He turned away to head to the Auction House, but before he could, a fuzzy blue snipe pick pocketed him. Daniel didn't notice, but the snipe had stolen the bronze bolt. It flew away to the Arcade. It chirped to several other snipes, and they chirped back. Each brought it scrap metal. It appeared the snipes were playing a game; who could steal the best item.
After getting its earnings, the blue snipe fluttered over to the edge of the Clockworks and tossed the near-worthless bolt down into the depths. It stopped on the floor of a Clockworks Tunnels depth. A gremlin thwacker came strolling down the tunnel, to see the bronze bolt.
It squealed with glee and grabbed the metal tool.
We'ki's smile stretched from ear to ear. "I thought I'd never see you again!" he said to it.
We'ki tossed the bolt into his pocket, this time making sure it didn't fall out.
The Bronze Bolt had experienced an adventure that day.
One that shouldn't be forgotten.
Somethin I wrote.
