I don't understand how party looting works...

Sorry if this has been posted before. It seems like everyone gets the money, heat, and tokens that everyone picks up. But the crafting materials seem totally random. One person will get 3 or 4 in a row and one person won't get any. Is that based on anything or is it totally random?

You have it right. Money,

You have it right. Money, heat, tokens and crystals go to everyone. Materials are totally random and it's not based on anything.

So you could have 1 person in

So you could have 1 person in the party who sits in the corner, does nothing, and still lucks out and gets the majority of the crafting materials?

On top of everything they

On top of everything they already mentioned above...

Hearts (health pickups) are "instanced loot." When a heart appears, everyone can get it separately. When you grab the heart, I still see the heart on the floor and I can go grab it too. We both get the health. You don't need to race other players to the hearts, everyone can get the same heart at their own pace. If you see a heart on the floor and there's another player offscreen that needs it, point it out to them so they can come get it.

Powerups and consumables (Lifebar-extending Vitapods or thrown status-effect Vials) are first-come, first-served. If you want to get that health pill that just dropped, you DO need to race other players to get it first.

With a full four-player party, a heart actually ends up giving more total health than an equivalent-tier health pill. You just can't bring hearts along with you.
