Well this is my first time with the preview server and I have a couple of things to say about the new UI. First of all though, I'm not sure if there's supposed to be an instance of haven on the server but each time I click the go to haven button I'm presented with a black screen and have to restart my client, which isn't really helpful.
About the new design, I'm not a fan of the plastic bevelled look you've gone with for the interface and the item pickups, (although when pickups are being thrown it does make more sense than throwing a circular graphic of the item). I do realise that the design is subject to personal taste but I feel it's a step back from what we currently have. Certain items such as the health vials and the shield & health bars look particularly ugly.
Issues I personally have with the new interface:
The weapon switching display is quite intrusive, and when I switch weapons quickly (I'm a gunner and switch guns almost constantly while playing) the display is almost always up, right in the middle of my screen. I also find it important to know what my current weapon is, so that's missing now too. An option to turn it off completely, or better yet relocate it to a corner of my screen and keep the current weapon showing constantly.
The shield health bar does not need to resize when you use your shield. If you use your shield a lot and very frequently (shield cancelling) the flashing shield bar becomes quite annoying. Aesthetically it's also not something very nice to look at, being just a solid blue bar.
The pickups have their hotkeys displayed underneath but I have mine assigned to the numpad buttons. problem; it just shows "numpad, numpad, numpad" when i have more than 1 pickup. Not enough room to display the whole key name.
Can't drop vitapods any more. why not? If we can't drop them do they need to be next to the usable items that you CAN drop? Move it to the health bar perhaps. the "current vitapod superior!" message isn't really needed and it showed up with a vitapod of the same number so technically wasn't true either. :)
Crowns and energy are now hidden and I don't see why they cant be on a separate tab like the other intereface features.
Monster health bar are rather crude and I'd like to see a nicer design than a simple red bar.(when did Command & Conquer come out again? 1995?)
You've added a bit of UI customisability with the tabbed interface elements, I would have liked to see more of that as options in the "game" settings menu, including hiding the minimap, the party panel & the chat.
Re the new mobs, cute but not very difficult at all. When the scarabs spawned in groups they all attacked in formation, and at once. Not very swarm like behaviour and not very hard to dodge either.
